Spotlight On NPC Bikini Competitor: Kristen Donisthorpe

kristen

Category you compete in: Bikini

Date of birth: March 10th, 1988

Hometown: Colstrip, Montana (yes we have electricity in Montana :) )

Career: Jewelry sales consultant at Goldsmith Gallery Jewelers. I get paid to play with diamonds and shiny things all day and help people with some of the biggest moments of their life!

What is your faIMG 88669930204104vorite contest prep recipe? I could eat sirloin steak with basmati rice or mashed yams with cinnamon for every meal, everyday! Wash it down with some fruit punch BCAA's.

What part of your physique are you currently working on? After switching back to bikini from training figure for a little while,  I'm going to hit that booty and hammy work hard to bring out that tie in and build myself a shelf life as us Bronzed Divas would say :)

Name one piece of nutrition/fitness advice that has stuck with you. Be patient and enjoy the process! All of the hard work is just as rewarding as the final product and if you're going to dedicate most of your time to something, you have to enjoy it!

If you could compete in one other event (FBB, physique, figure, fitness, bikini) which would it be and why? If I could compete in one other event, it would be Figure! I trained for it for a while because I absolutely love the athletic, but still very feminine look of it. My body was just meant for bikini. I absolutely admire Figure competitors and their look. Plus their suits are amazing!!

Why NPC: When I do anything in life, I like to make sure I'm challenging myself against the best there is in that activity. The NPC is such a large and competitive sanction that is filled with most of the most amazing, dedicated, and fit people in the world so I wanted to make sure the success that I find is measured against the best in the world!

What do you like best about competing? Learning how strong I could make not only my body, but also my mind, has been absolutely amazing to me. Although it's a sport judged on physical appearance,  it takes a very strong mind to stick to your plan and give yourself the best chance at transforming your body to the best it can be. It has made me feel like a much stronger person in all aspects of my life!

What are your goals for the future? Having nationally qualified at the Emerald Cup, I'm ready to put my focus on bikini training again and get my Pro Card in 2015. I also want to work on getting sponsorships so I can represent the companies I believe in and put myself in a more powerful position to positively influence people to live a healthy lifestyle and reach their full potential.

Competition history:

 2013 Big Sky Championships-10th place

2013 Southern USA's-8th place

2014 Emerald Cup-3rd place

2014 Big Sky Championships-6th placeIMG 249520685945021

Next competition: Undecided. Possibly Pittsburgh in August

Hobbies: I am an avid golfer and Chicago Bears fan. I spend as much time with friends, family, and my amazing boyfriend and dog as possible.  I also love being outside and on the water in my great state of Montana. And what girl doesn't love to shop?!

What is the biggest lesson you have learned over the years when it comes to competing? Simplify things as much as possible to make competing fit your lifestyle as easily as possible. It is still important to do things with the people that you love and not let competing completely take over your life. Also, switch things up so that you still enjoy it and don't get burnt out.

What is your favorite contest prep supplement?

Muscle Egg!! Makes my life so much easier and it's so good and versatile that you don't even feel like you're eating a contest prep meal.

Favorite Quote: "Change your thoughts and you'll change the world. "
