Track Star Turned Bikini Athlete: Candyce Graham

Track Star Turned Bikini Athlete

Meet The Stunning Candyce Graham

Story By Rob Rosetti

DSC_1699_NPRSJUZDEIThe sport of Track & Field has given the sport of Figure quite a few of it's most recognized stars.  Case in point, this years Ms Figure Olympia Erin Stern.  Her extensive Track & Field background can easily be seen in her flawless "best in the world" physique.

Now it seems that Track & Field is also going to have a positive impact in the NPC Bikini Division.  Meet National Bikini beauty Candyce Graham.  Candyce, with her extensive track and field background sports one of the most impressive athletic physiques at the National level.  It's somewhat uncanny that an athlete can have such a great combination of curves, shape, conditioning, beauty, presentation and style.  For Candyce, all of these attributes come relatively easy for her if she stays disciplined and trains in the intense style she is accustomed too.

After racking up an Overall Bikini win at the 2010 NPC Europa Show Of Champions this past Spring and her Height Class at the 2010 IFBB North Americans, Candyce is on track to shake things up at Nationals this year and could quite possibly leave the stage with an IFBB Pro Card.

Recently I had the opportunity to conduct an exclusive Rx Girl interview with Candyce and here is what she had to say:

1. Birth Place

Gainesville, FL

2. Current Residence

Lutz, FL

I'm a member of the wonderful Team Bombshell under the guidance of Shannon and Rob

4.  When did you get interested in competing in NPC Bikini?

I have always been physically active and competitive, from adolescence to adulthood. Karate, cheerleading, basketball, and golf are some of the sports that I've participated in. When I learned that NPC began a bikini division I saw it as a great opportunity to continuously challenge myself, while also providing me with valuable exposure that will help me achieve my goal of becoming a fitness model.

5.  What part of competing do you like best?

Competing challenges me both mentally and physically and I love seeing the results of my hard work

6.  What part of competing do you like least?

The most challenging aspect of competing is the final 2 weeks of dieting...I crave practically everything! Its a true test of my dedication and determination to accomplish my physical  goals.

7.  You have a physique that shows signs of a former track athlete.  Did you compete in track?

Yes, I competed competitively in track and field. Competing in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m, 4x400m, long and triple jump.

I would probably put on a little more size and compete in NPC Figure.

9.  Describe your typical day.

Eat, Sleep, Train! Even during off-season, I train just as hard to ensure I maintain my physique so I stay within 5-8lbs of my competition weight.

10.  Like all National level athletes you must have times when you just can't muster up the energy to go to the gym or do that extra cardio session.  Who usually helps you get over that hump?

I'm a very self-driven and motivated person and can usually get myself over the hump but during those really difficult moments, I have the support of my bombshell teammates who are always there and willing to help.

11.  Who in the sport serves as role models for you?

Since I have primarily a track background, Flo-Jo was one of my top female role models and Fitness competitor Melissa Hall. I admired how both women showed that you can still be feminine and fit.

12.  Who in the IFBB Bikini ranks do you think your body most resembles?

I've been told my physique resembles IFBB Bikini Pro Nicole Nagrani

13.  What's your goals in the sport?

To become an IFBB Bikini Pro and a top fitness model

I would like to thank Team Bombshell for their support and helping me achieve my dream and my parents for always being there!

15.  What's up next for you?

NPC Nationals in Atlanta!!
