For those who applauded the wonderful "#LikeAGirl" Super Bowl commercial, Lindsay "Fitness Inferno" Mulinazzi is your new favorite superhero. She combines the passion and discipline of bodybuilding with the eccentricity and creativity of an artist. The more you get to know her, the more you realize how special she actually is.
I'm a full time pre-med student at the University of Omaha and Bellevue. I graduate this year with a dual degree in Biology and Chemistry, and will be moving to New Jersey for Medical school at Rutgers University.
I did gymnastics for the age of 4 to 8 and participate in athletics mostly sprinting 100m and hurdles and long jump. I only started to do weight training after school, but it was only after my son was born that I started to train more seriously. I started to work as a personal trainer and it was then when the owner of the gym told me that I have the potential to compete as a figure athlete.
I had been into fitness and sports most of my life, however I had still packed on some weight. While caring for my mother I had forgotten how to care for myself and had really gotten heavy. After my mom had passed away, I wasn't sure if it was grief or not, but I was just not feeling well, my physical showed high cholesterol, BP to name a few. I decided at that moment, I as not going to take any medication I was going to change my life!
I love all of the amazing people that I meet at shows and all of the friendships I make. Some of my closest friends are ones I have met at competitions. It's nice having close friends who live the same lifestyle that you can laugh, cry, rejoice, and complain to. It makes it all so much easier.
I love the symbolism behind Wonderwoman's arsenal of weapons including the indestructible bracelets of submission and the Lasso of Truth. I admire her superhuman strength and try to embrace those qualities in my training and prepping for competition.
