Q: When did you get started on your fitness career/journey? What made you want to become more than just the average person living a healthy and fit lifestyle?

A: January 2013 is when I made a choice to live a healthier lifestyle. My birthday was Jan 2, that following week I bought my first gym membership at Tommie Harris Fitness Center. I trained 3 days per week and did morning cardio 5 days per week. I entered my first 5k race that February and after that I fell in love with being healthy and active.

There was a women’s physique competitor named Jade Coleman that I would always see at the gym. One day she approached me and asked if I had ever considered competing. She said she saw the potential in me to be good at it. I had no understanding of competition so I would say “thanks, but no thanks.” She was very persistent and every time she saw me she would mention competing. After a while I started to ask her questions about the sport and told her I thought maybe I could try it. She told me that if I was serious, the best coach was a man named Terrance and that she would be happy to introduce me. 6 weeks after I was introduced to him, I was on stage winning my first figure competition. I haven’t looked back since then. This sport has changed my life.ModelTurn

Q: What is some advice that you would offer someone wanting to increase their popularity in the Fitness industry? What tip can you give someone to help them build their following as well?

A: Be consistent with your market and look the part. If you want followers in the fitness industry, make fitness posts and use those hash tags!

Q: Do you consider this as your part/full time job or a hobby?

A: This is my lifestyle. It determines when I wake up, what I do, what I eat, where I go, and what time I go to sleep.

Q: There are many people that motivate and are inspired by you. How does that make you feel knowing that there are people who take the time to see what you are doing day to day?

A: Its flattering. When I started competing, my coach told me “You inspire people by just being good at what you do.”. I do this because I enjoy it and I’m glad that I have a platform to share it with people.

Q: How does it feel knowing that somewhere, you are actually helping someone by motivating them to achieve their personal goals?
A: I believe that God blesses people through other people. It’s a privilege to be used to inspire people. If I inspire just one person to make healthier choices or chase their dreams it’s enough for me to make a post everyday!

Q: Is there anyone wPhotoShootho has motivated or inspired you to become the person you are today?
A: My mother and father have been such great examples for me to follow. They taught me to work hard, to love and to never quit.
Since I have started my fitness career I have to say that my coach Terrance has been my biggest influence and inspiration. He is a great teacher and mentor both in the gym and in life. I have grown so much over this year that we’ve been working together and I am so thankful to him for bringing out the best in me.

He embraces a team culture in this sport. “Iron sharpens iron”. My teammates make me a better competitor. They push me when I need it, listen to me when I need it and occasionally beat me at sprinting. When I really need inspiration, all I have to do is look to my left and right for somebody with TW on their chest.

Q: How does your family feel about your lifestyle? What would you say to someone whose family does not support their lifestyle?

A: If you have ever been to show where I competed, you know who my parents are. They’re the best. My mom has been at every show I’ve done. I know I’m making them proud and that means the world to me.

For someone whose family doesn’t support their lifestyle I would say, you have to follow your heart. Never be afraid to chase your dreams. The people that are meant to be in your life will be there and they will love you no matter what.

Q: Of all the social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.), what do you think is the most effective to use in order to market yourself in this industry?

A: To be truly effective you need a good combination of all three. If there is a place to reach your market, do it!

Q: What is your diet like? Do you eat clean all year round?
A: My diet in one word: simple. I eat clean year round. It is important for me to always look the part of a professional figure competitor and even more important to live a healthy lifestyle.
When I’m in prep for a show my diet can change week to week. I have my physique assessed by my coach bi-weekly and then weekly as I get closer to the show. He determines where changes need to be made and I execute.

Q: What is your favorite cheat meal? How do you control yourself from goinTWGearg overboard when you decide to treat yourself?

A: Every contest prep I find that I want something different after the show. For this show (Phoenix Europa) I really wanted a thin crust, chicken and spinach pizza. I ended up getting a chicken dish from Applebee’s. Maybe I’ll get the pizza after my next show.

I always have my goals in mind and I stay visible to my team and my coach. If I start slipping, they won’t hesitate to tell me.

Q: Do you take any supplements? What do you think is one of the most important supplements someone should take who is training constantly?

A: Whey protein, BCAAs, Glutamine, Multivitamins are must-haves for me. The most important being a multi-vitamin. It’s important to give your body the minerals that it needs especially when you’re dieting and training for a show.

Q: What’s your social media/contact information?
A: Facebook: facebook.com/GoFigureBrittany
Twitter: @gofigurebrit
Instagram: @gofigurebrittany

Q: Special thanks to:

A: My parents for your never ending love and support. Jodi Sturgeon for the amazing suits. Jodi has made every suit that I’ve ever worn. She listens and has a great knowledge of the physique and spends the time to create custom made suits. To the central TX community for rallying around me. To my Pastors Chad and Marla Rowe at Destiny World Outreach Center for always speaking life into me. To all my social media friends and followers for your kind words and encouragement, they mean more to me than you’ll ever know. To the people that make me better, that believe in me and inspire me, Team Williams! If anyone wants to know who my favorite competitors are, you’re it! Terrance, you’re the best at what you do. YHipPoseou give us all the things that money can’t buy; belief in self, trust in the process and the confidence to tackle anything with integrity and hard work.
