The Healing Power of Branch Chains

photo (4)The Healing Power of Branch Chains

Did you know that this popular amino blend commonly used by athletes and fitness enthusiasts everyday is also widely used in trauma emergency rooms to treat severely injured patients and even patients with severe liver damage?  This powerful healing blend of aminos is given intravenously (IV) to treat brain swelling, treat Lou Gehrig’s disease, and also given to hemodialysis patients to encourage appetite and minimize symptoms of mania.

Branched-chain amino acids are essential nutrients that the body obtains from proteins found in food, especially meat, dairy products, and legumes. Of the twenty important amino acids, three of which play a vital role in the functionality of the liver, thus aiding in protein synthesis and healing.  These aminos are known  in short as “branch chains aminos” and include the aminos leucine, isoleucine, and valine. “Branched-chain” refers to the chemical structure of these amino acids. People use branched-chain amino acids for medicine.

Taking a glance at many sports performance drinks and supplement powders on the market today you may notice photo (3)a bold print outlining the products somewhat average amount of branch chain amino acids, but is that really all you need?  Is your athletic intensity adequate to your supplement program?  Are you performing to your full potential?  How is your healing and training recuperation?  If these questions seem to puzzle you, then you very well could be insufficient in your amino acid demands.  More importantly, your branch chain amino demands.

Let’s take a closer look.  When purchasing a BCAA supplement, you want to be sure it has a few other much needed ingredients. Besides isoleucine, leucine, and valine, you want to also see glutamine, citrulline and a couple ‘B’ vitamins for added energy production and electrolyte maintenance as well.
Now you may ask yourself, “Why do I need glutamine in my regimen?”.  Well, glutamine will help the body’s healing process following an intense workout, but oxidizing stress released and fat storing hormones while assisting in cellular hydration.  It also has been shown to stabilize blood sugar and speed recovery of minor muscle injuries.  Simply put, you want to lose fat and build lean muscle?   Then don’t be without glutamine!

Lastly, let’s examine citrulline, the arginine precursor! We already know the numerous vital roles that arginine plays in our  daily health and athletic performance, from cardiovascular maintenance to reproductive organ health and vitality.  But did you know that without citrulline, your dreams of seductively low body fat ranges and a slim waistline, or that amazingly unbeatable athletic performance out there on the field are nonexistent?  This detoxifying amino can assist in muscular endurance and recovery by working  to eliminatephoto (2) ammonia and lactic acid build up.

Thusly, your performance arsenal should not be without a good branch chain blend.  Not only will these ingredients help you achieve your goals faster; be it weight loss, muscle gain, or fast track times, but they will also be friendly on your wallet by purchasing them together in one quality product.
