Muscle Gossip with the Yuckmouth Yenta #7: Ronnie's Return to the Stage!

No more kefetching, The Yuckmouth Yenta is back!  From this point forward you'll be getting weekly updates regarding behind-the-scenes news and gossip in bodybuilding and fitness industry.

Return Of The Legends

ronnie-colemanBy now most of you have probably heard the rumblings about a new master's invitational show, IFBB World Masters Championship, set to take place on December 10, 2011 (http://www.jarkasgym.com).   When I first heard about it, I was admittedly skeptical.  In the last year or so I've seen and heard about so many potential contests in places such as Dubai, Japan, Germany, etc... that were canceled for some unknown reason. . . that whenever I hear about a new big show with tons of prize money, doubt is the first emotion to cross my doubting mind.

After listening to Jarka (the contest promoter) on HEAVY MUSCLE RADIO (http://www.rxmuscle.com/hmr-radio-show/2180-jefftheproducer-hmr.html), where she talked of her contest promotion prowess back in her home country of Czechoslovakia (she was named 1998 Promoter of the Year by Ironman Magazine), I started to believe that this contest might actually happen.  That "might happen" changed to a "good possibility" when I saw the contest listed in the 2011 IFBB Pro Schedule and heard that NPC President, Jim Manion, was even asking certain masters-elligible Pro competitors if they were planning on doing the show.

I had the good fortune of running into Jarka at the 2010 IFBB Ft. Lauderdale Cup this past weekend, and ICormier was able to extract the scoop direct from the source. She broke the news to Dave Palumbo and I that she had procured, in writing, a commitment from Ronnie "The Big Nasty" Coleman that he'll be doing the show. She also informed us that "The Shadow", Dorian Yates, has agreed to guest pose for a fee. She also mentioned she had solid confirmation from Samir Bannout, Dexter Jackson, Chris Cormier, Tony Pearson and more. I contacted

Cormier tonight to get confirmation, and he told me he will, in-fact, be competing come December 10th, and that it'll be his final show before he retires into the sunset.

Yates

The fact that Jarka has confirmed these athletes and has the IFBB Pro League behind her bodes very well for the chances this contest will indeed take place. Personally, I hope she succeeds in bringing some of the legends back to the stage. I've never seen Dorian Yates posing live, and I'd love to see Cormier and Ronnie battle it out just one more time!

Bubbeleh, until next week, I'm out!
