Martins Licis Wins Arnold Pro Strongman USA, Qualifies for 2020 Arnold Srongman Classic

SANTA MONICA, Calif. --Martins Licis successfully defended his Arnold Pro Strongman USA title in dramatic fashion on Saturday, Jan. 18 on the Santa Monica Pier and, in the process, locked down a spot in the 2020 Arnold Strongman Classic.

Licis, who lives in Santa Monica, Calif., went from third-place to first-place in front of a sold-out crowd that included host Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger when he won the final event, the Rogue Strongman Sandbag Load, in 32.84 seconds to win the event with 52 points.

Brian Shawf inished in second place in the Arnold Pro Strongman USA with 51 points. Canada's Maxime Boudreault was third with 50.5 points. Boudreault won the first three events of the competition and was in position to advance to Columbus before Licis and Shaw rallied in the final two events.

Licis, the 2020 World's Strongest Man winner who finished second at the 2019 Arnold Strongman Classic, will be looking for his first Arnold Strongman Classic title.

The Arnold Pro Strongman World Series Championship / Arnold Strongman Classic will be held March 6-7, 2020 in Columbus, Ohio during the Arnold Sports Festival.
