Spotlight 2 On National Level Bikini Competitor: Siliana Gaspard

txstate3

Category you compete in: National Level Bikini Athlete
Date of birth: October 6th
Hometown: Sofia, Bulgaria
Career: Superwoman

If you could change into a superhero for a day who would you be and why?
See above. (Laughing) I already need to be Superwoman all day long, so I wonder what it would be like to actually have her powers; maybe I could get even more done!!
What made you begin dedicating your lifestyle to this sport?
The birth of my son. I was always pretty active, playing juniors tennis as a child, staying fit as a teen, had some ups and downs, but after he was born I really wanted to get into the best shape of my life.

What approach do you take to dieting...carb cycle..keto?
I take it light and fun. I find that if you are too serious with it that when you come off, you go crazy and blow up. I don’t time my meals, or weigh each ounce. I know I need high protein, low carbs for the majority of my training period. On days where I am feeling a little slow or down, I’ll up my carb intake. I eat when I am hungry, and I can judge my size pretty well without a scale.

What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about competing?
That it’s not fun, that their lives would be “over” because they can’t drink or eat like they are used to. But it is so much more than that; it is a lifestyle change- you get excited about things like lifting 10 more pounds, or adding to your endurance etc. Women especially think that as soon as they even get near a dumbbell they will instantly become bodybuilders.

What is your most embarassing childhood memory?
Everything my dad used to do was so embarrassing! He would walk around the grocery store saying “garbage, garbage, GARBAGE!!” Yea, that is pretty embarrassing.
What is the biggest lesson you have learned about YOURSELF during your contest prep?
I’m a bad bitch. (Laughs) I learned that I can push through anything and overcome it.

Who do you lostrongerthanok up and admire and why?
My son- he is just amazing. All parents think that their kids are special, but my kid is really on to something.

Next competition:
Not sure. Maybe the Phil Heath Classic in Houston, maybe Jr.USA’s. Either way, definitely will be doing Nationals and/or USA’s this year, we coming for that pro card!

Favorite Motivational Quote:
“I’ll do what others won’t today, so that I can do what other’s can’t tomorrow.”

Who would you like to thank?
Shad Gaspard, Charles Glass, my wonderful sponsors at Optimum Nutrition, my mom, dad, brother, Isaac Hinds for all his helpful advice, Dan Ray just for being himself, and mostly my son for continuing to motivate me to the best person I can be.
