your workout(within 20-30mins) it's very important to provide your body with the proper nutrients for the recovery process. You need a fast digesting protein source like whey and some simple sugars such as fruit to help your body transition from a catabolic state(breaking down muscle), into an anabolic state(building or repairing muscle). This is a great higher calorie post-workout shake for individuals that are in the process of trying to add size.
stadium bleachers for your next aggressive workout. I want you to look past the idea of running up the stairs this time. Visualize your approach to “bear climbing” up the steps and “bear climbing” down the steps. Yes, this is your unorthodox approach to physically tackling the stadium’s steps. I want you to climb up and down the steps using your hands and feet. I believe running the stairs is a fantastic method of increasing your heart rate and targeting your legs, however, why not increase your heart rate and rip up your entire body for a different change of pace. The muscles that will primarily take the work load are you’re:

behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights.” ~ Muhammad Ali
There have been a lot of people asking what this category is about. It’s about balance and symmetry to help present the most aesthetically pleasing physique in the eyes of the judges and crowd. Part of achieving that is admitting to yourself what your weaknesses are and improving upon them. Mine happen to be my shoulders. I thought I had pretty good shoulders. My girlfriends never complained…but now that I think about it, maybe that’s why they are all ex-girlfriends now. My deficiency was made very clear in Chicago as I showed off my golf ball sized delts next to the likes of Kevin Perod and Alex Carneiro. Kevin looked like he was wearing a pair of football shoulder pads. WTF?!?!
but honestly, nothing could be further from the truth! So many people let opportunities pass them by; opportunities that often times they never even knew were there! Why? Because they use the excuse that it just was not the right time; but, when is the right time? The right time is RIGHT NOW! At any given time you will always have something going on, something that may make you think that it just is not the right time, but remember at that same given time there is somebody out there that is taking action in far worse circumstances! There is always someone that has it better and always someone that has it worse, those are the facts of life, what separates people is their ability to respond to those given set of circumstances. You have the ability to choose your response and action to situations, you and you alone! Decide to take action and not only reach your goals, but to exceed them! There will always be bumps in the road and plenty of twists and turns as well, we should be thankful for these, as it is these experiences that we truly learn and grow from! It is when times are rough and things are difficult that our characters are defined, anybody can move ahead when things are going great, but to move ahead when things are less than ideal, now that takes a true champion!
it comes to the concept of having Botox injections. They will often say, “I don’t want to lose my facial expressions” or “I don’t like the idea of having a toxin in my body!” Yet when injected judiciously and expertly, Botox can end up relaxing and balancing faces that may be stuck in a permanent frown or scowl. In other words, the results should look natural instead of producing a “frozen” look which many people have come to associate with Botox...

Welcome back to my ongoing series on tips for fitness models. In my last article I discussed how to approach potential photographers. Now that you possibly have their attention, it doesn’t end there.
Remember photographers and art directors, like everyone else, are very busy.Even if they like your look, do not assume they are going to remember you.I get flooded every day with great models requesting to be shot.Frequently it’s just a matter of timing. If a photographer or art director express’s initial interest, ask them if you can contact them periodically. Then come up with your “A” list of people to stay in touch with.I suggest sending update...
We are here with Mathew Clark, NPC MP Competitor.
What are your thoughts on the Men's Physique Division?
I appreciate the opportunity that this new division provides. Without the creation of men's physique, I most likely would have never experienced the thrill of being on stage in competition.
Age: 28
I recently had the opportunity to meet up with new IFBB Men’s Physique Pro Alex Carneiro to talk about his journey into the awesome world of Men’s Physique and after talking for just a few short minutes it was clear, Alex Lives the Fitness Lifestyle and is a perfect representation of what Men’s Physique is all about...
Both Alex and I are from Colourful Colorado, however we live about 4 hours apart, but because of both of our LOVES for Fitness we have crossed paths many times and I can tell you that Alex is a class act and meeting up with him was a great experience! Not only did he take time out of his day to assist me with refining my Posing (which was a tremendous help), but he also sat down and talked with me with genuine passion and interest! Here is a guy that is in the VERY Elite Category of being an IFBB Men’s Physique Pro and he is ALREADY working hard to help others achieve their Dreams and that is what it’s all about!
leanest and meanest causing you to spend hours of time in the gym thinking that more is better? Endless curls watching yourself in the mirror thinking "Will these things ever get bigger?" Back in the day, I remember lifting shoulders and pressing 120"s with taped wrists and super sets til the cows came home. We'd run up to mickydees and slam down a few burgers and fries and a shake and head back and continue the workout. 3 hours later, I walked out of the gym feeling tired and unable to lift a thing. I later found that, like a lot of things in life, when you overdo something, the results are not always as fruitful as we'd like them to be. I couldn't eat or supplement enough to repair the torn down muscles and my body just wasn't improving. My problem was that I was over training. My inability to just leave well enough alone and quit while I was ahead, was becoming an impediment on my training.
Imagine, if you will, that you work as a reporter/writer/editor/director /whatever for a publication. Most of your time is spent either writing content, editing content, designing layouts, communicating with other section editors, copy editing again, rewriting, and so on. Time is fairly limited with a majority of your life spent on constant deadlines.
Let’s make it a little more hectic. Let us assume that you are receiving somewhere in the range of 100-to-200 e-mails, letters and faxes every single week from publicists, freelance writers, models, photographers and so on – essentially begging to have you publish them, their work, or their story.
our emphasis on pre-contest diet and prep. I rarely hear competitor’s discuss what they are doing after the contest with the exception of pizza, beer, cheeseburgers etc… So in this article I wanted to discuss the importance and safety on how to take care of your body AFTER you have hit the stage. The show is over; whether you won or placed I’m sure you gave your best! Now what? Get some pizza with everybody, slam a 2 liter of Pepsi and get ready to hammer chest on Monday so you have a head start for the next competition? Not exactly the best plan...
Can you tell us a little about the Competition you just competed in?
My Most recent competition was this past Saturday, the Junior Nationals in Chicago. It had many competitors and a great big venue. It was definitely a learning experience.
Thank you Ian! I have trained hard many years for sports and recently I have been training with no purpose just training to train. I had two friends compete in men’s physique and I saw how much fun they had and thought it was time to train for a reason and join the fun. Men’s physique gave me a new reason to train hard and to set new goals.
Can you tell us a little about the Competition you just competed in?
I competed in the southern California men’s physique in San Diego B-Class. There were a lot more guys then I expected and some great physiques. I didn't know what to really expect but everyone was so friendly and helpful it made everything easy and enjoyable. For my first show I had a great experience and I am hooked and looking forward to competing in many more shows.
The price of greatness is responsibility.

I’m in my supplement shop, NutriFit of Scottsdale, and watching Pumping Iron. Don’t act like you haven’t watched it before. Every single one of you probably watched it over and over again when you were younger and probably still do to this day. Anyway, I’m just coming back from a 3rd place finish at the Jr Nationals this weekend and one of the things I love most about competing are the friendships we form amongst the people we are stepping on stage against. A conversation I had with new IFBB Men’s Physique Pro and someone I now consider a friend, Alex Carneiro, about the Golden Age of bodybuilding is what led me to write this blog. The names you hear from that era are iconic…Lou Ferrigno, Frank Columbu, Serge Nubret, Robbie Robinson and of course Arnold. The best part about that time for them is that they were friends so they got to enjoy the ride together...
Alex Carneiro and Steve Cook have qualified to the IFBB Pro Ranks of the new Men's Physique Division... Right in the mix placing third was MensPhysique.com Contributor Bobby Ashhurst.
More to come...

when Life was easy and we didn’t have a care in the world? No major responsibility, no stress, no pressure, just FUN! All of us have fond memories of some sort of when we were a Child or smile when we see a Child at play or just having FUN, isn’t it awesome?! Well... Why do WE have to grow up and lose this spirit, the fact is WE DON’T...
Welcome to the first of an ongoing series dedicated to fitness models in reference to; how to get work, be prepared for photo shoots, stay fit, attire, tan, do’s & don’ts and much more.I hope you find the information helpful.
As a fitness model it is very important to contact potential industry photographers and art directors directly.Even if you have professional representation it is always best to do as much personal PR as you can.Remember, no one will take more interest in your career than yourself.
Your first step should be...
That’s why I’m telling you to “expose yourself.” I’m not talking about running around in a trench coat with nothing underneath. I’m talking about getting out there and letting people in the fitness industry know who you are! What do you bring to the table that makes a company want you on their team? This is the question you need to ask yourself if you’re looking to land an endorsement deal. There are a number of ways you may find yourself in the limelight as a working fitness model. You can create your own blog and youtube channel. Another easy way to start getting out there is to enter into “searches.”
True, some searches are not going to get you far and the chance of “getting picked up” is slim; but, that is the name of the game. Keep pushing and getting in front of the right people and eventually, if you bring something unique to the table that fits the company AND you are persistent, then you will get your opportunity. You have probably seen tons of these “searches” on Facebook and other websites...
e V-taper effect is awesome looking. Shoulders, however, are very complex. Due to the many angles at which your arm can move, the chance for injury to the shoulder joint is very high. In addition, to work the deltoid muscles properly, the athlete must learn to anchor himself at certain points of the body and focus on targeting all aspects of the deltoids and traps. I prefer a regular bench press bench with the high back as opposed to "shoulder press benches" in which the back is too short and turns the exercise into an incline press. Anchoring the butt and the midpoint of the traps to the chair with a small gap in the lower back is a good form to follow. I also, sometimes, anchor the base of my skull to the back of the bench for that extra contact which places all that emphasis on my delts...
