#Fitspire of the Week: Josh Blottin: “Be Yourself.”

What gives someone th1044325 134538703421455 1382425216 ne right to consider themselves a successful fitness model or personality in the industry? Is it the amount of covers one can land because of their physique?  Could it be how many sponsors they are able to grab to help support them? Or is it the amount of money one can make between different modeling/ fitness gigs?

Everyone will tell you something different, but if there is one thing that is hard to disagree with, it’s the ability to promote and market yourself to others.  Social media has begun to play a huge role in self marketing as an athlete, competitor, fitness model or personality in the Industry. These days, you don't need a modeling agency to help promote you, or a company to take you on as a sponsored athlete in order for you to be seen in the industry.

Someone who once could have been just an average fit person, now has the ability to transform themselves into a “Social Media Fitness Star!”  If you put in the time, the effort, and truly have a passion for fitness, you can change yourself from just a face with a body, to a bona fide personality – someone able to inspire and motivate others on their own fitness journey!

Josh Blottin, age 24, and hailing from Australia, is proof that if you put in the time, effort, hard work in the gym AND the kitchen, and use social media as a tool to self-promote, you can turn your average health/fit lifestyle into a network that reaches out to endless amounts of people who want to take the time out to follow your journey.

Q: When did you get started on your fitness career/journey? What made you want become more than just the average person living a healthy and fit lifestyle?

A: When I was 16 my mother decided to do a bikini figure competition and watching how she prepped and the changes it made to her body caught my attention. And it wasn’t until I watched her at the comp along with all the other male bodybuilders that I decided that is what I want to look like and started my journey of trial and error along with researching the correct ways to train and eat, in conjunction with the best supplementation.

Q: Being that you have a loyal social media following, what is some advice that you would offer someone wanting to increase their popularity in the Fitness industry? What tip can you give someone to help them build their following as well?

A: Be yourself. Don’t try to mimic people or things that have already be1504532 184120765129915 1506363630 nen done. There is already an aesthetic crew, there was one Zyzz. People are not going to follow or be inspired by a cheap rip-off of what already exists. You have to educate people on what you do and how it works for you by being as real and as down to earth as you are. People are not dumb, they can sniff out fakes. Do not lie but do try to help people as honestly and fairly as you can.

Q: Do you consider this as your part/full-time job, or a hobby of yours?

A: At first this was a hobby of mine but in the last year it has become a full-time job. I am so grateful and blessed to do what I love for a living and hope to be able to educate and inspire many more people to achieve the body of their dreams in the future.

Q: There are many people that motivate and are inspired by you. How does that make you feel knowing that there are people who take the time to see what you are doing day to day?

A: Humbled. I’m not trying to show off or pick up chicks, I’m married. And I know a lot of guys who do this for the wrong reasons, which is sad. But I just try to do my thing and hope it educates and inspires people along the way.

Q: How does it feel knowing that somewhere, you are actually helping someone by motivating them to achieve their personal goals, just by posting your personal life and achievements on social media?

A: That to me is one of the greatest satisfactions. Giving someone else the tools and ability to be able to change their own life for the better and be happy again is truly a blessing.

Q: Is there anyone who has motivated or inspired you to become the person you are today?

A: Definitely God. My parents have always been a major inspiration for me along with my younger brother and sister. But without my wife, this wouldn’t be possible either. She945329 131812970360695 302392089 n’s my rock.

Q: How does your family feel about your lifestyle? What would you say to someone whose family does not support their lifestyle?

A: Coming from a strong fitness/sport family, they’re  more than supportive, which I am blessed to have. My advice to someone who does not have that support is to never let anything dampen their fire to succeed. It is your race, not your parents or siblings. They will not understand your drive to succeed so forgive them for being unsupportive or ignorant. Shrug it off and keep focused.

Q: Of all the social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.), what do you think is the most effective to use in order to market yourself in this industry?

A: I personally like Instagram and think it is the future. Facebook is up there but Instagram is where it’s at. After all, a picture speaks a thousand words. Not to mention Facebook wouldn’t have purchased Instagram for $1billion in 2012, two years after it was created for no reason!

Q: What is your diet like? Do you eat clean all year round?

A: This is the difference between someone who goes to the gym every day that looks average and someone who goes to the gym four days a week and looks awesome. It is all about what you eat. Yeah, I do struggle with eating clean just like most people, but my desire to better my physique far outweighs the satisfaction of my tastebuds. So I try to eat clean all year round, allowing for ‘Treat Meals’.

Q: Speaking of which, what is your favorite ‘treat meal’? How do you control yourself from going overboard when you decide to treat yourself?

A: It varies from time to time. My wife would say it’s pizza but I crave everything that is not on my weekly meal plan. Haha

Q: Do you take any supplements? What do you think is one of the most important supplements someone should take who is training constantly?

A: Protein. Whey Protein Isolate to be specific. Don’t know where I would be without it. Protein is the building block of muscle growth and is easy to obtain and not too expensive. Sure there are a lot of other fundamental supplements, but if I was to choose one it would be Vitalstrength WPI+ Vanilla Flavor.

Q: What’s your social media/contact information?
