If someone has more lower body fat (on legs) which will cause more testosterone to convert to estrogen, would Yombine really be an effective supplement. If so, why will it help

DP: The theory was that a topical application of Yohimbine would target estrogen dependent fat cells (with high amounts of alpha-2 receptors on them.  Yohimbine blocks a-2 receptors and thus increased norepinephrine release.  This increases fat mobilization at the cellular level.  In the real world, some people respond to this treatment, some don't.

For some one that needed as many calories/nutrients as possible in the smallest amount of liquid, (cancer patient) what would you recommend? I have been thinking soaked then blended almonds, flax oil with whole food multi vit/min supplement. It needs to be as small a dose as possible and preferably

DP: A supplemental meal replacement shake might be the best bet. You're mixing a lot of foods that could be tough to digest.

Dave, i was considering 2 stacks, sustanon and tren acetate, or test cyp with tren acetate, do you think one could be more beneficial for another for an off season stack?

DP: No difference.

In your opinion, what is the best mass building supplement on the market today for someone that is currently natural and looking to add mass (besides protein and creatine)?

DP: Just food and hard training. This is the same for everyone.

Dave what are your thoughts on taking creatine, if you have a previous problems with your kidneys. Is it still safe to take?  I think I have cystic kidneys and I am currently take blood pressure medicine and I am on your diet as well. What do you recommend?

DP: While I don't forsee a problem, it's not worth the risk since you have a pre-existing condition.

DP:  I do have it but I didn't think people wanted to see the promo videos....... but there will be plenty more with the SMALLEY brothers on the RxMuscle website.

If I remember correctly, you first started using performance enhancers at the age of 24. What kinds of gains/improvements did you achieve in the first month? Three months?

DP: If you use a smart and conservative first cycle, you'll make slow and steady gains.  You can't rush your progress.

When switching from protein/fat to protein/veggies. What vegetables would you recommend? Are asparagus and broccoli ok? Thanks

DP: Green beans or broccoli are fine.

What veggies are totally OFF the list when doing the diet?

DP:  Any vegetables with sugar or a high carb content are off. You want greens that have a low carb content like green beans.

Guidelines for a 200lb female?

DP: Unless she's a top level bodybuilder, she probably has high bodyfat and can use the diet I posted. If not, she's a special case that would require personal consultation.

Dave, what do you order at McDonald's?

DP:  I used to order 2 triple cheeseburgers.  Nowadays I'll get 2 angus burgers if I choose to frequent McDs.

I have a question I hope you can answer. I go to this martial arts session once a week but it's not like kick-boxing or brazilian jiu-jitsu like that. I do get a good sweat out of it however. Will this cause me to lose muscle? Thanks a lot and hope to hear your reply.

DP: Once per week shouldn't be a problem. Don't get hurt!

Hey dave, im 8 weeks into your diet. And am currently doing 1 hour and 10 minutes of cardio a day. I have a busy schedule and the only time im able to work it in is after work before bed, that ok?? And also i have only been using a stationary bike, because that is what i have in my house. Is that ok? Or should i be including and elipitcal and etc... in my cardio?? Is it gonna hurt me to only use a stationary bike?

DP: The bike is fine.  You have to get the cardio in when you can. First thing is the morning is ideal but you have to have a somewhat functional life.

On a previous question (back on that other site) you mentioned that you thought massage aides a bodybuilder in recovery. When is the best time to get a massage in relation to your workout? The same day as your workout? On an off day? Does it matter? Thanks.

DP: You don't want to get a massage before a workout and probably not the day before training a big muscle group such as legs or back.  There's always some tissue breakdown that requires rest time to recover.

This 2:45 minute "two hour radio show" was your and John's best ever! Amazing show. I'm also glad Connelly is back with you guys. That guy is like an encyclopedia of supplementation.

 

Anyway, back on the old radio show, Dr. Scott Connelly was on talking about how you have a 30min window immediately post workout to take in 20g of whey protein for a bonus recovery effect (and then not eat for 90 min). Your diet does not provide for this post-workout meal, but after listening to Dr. Connelly, I feel it's a shame to ever let this time window go unused.

 

Will adding a Progenex recovery or regular 20g whey shake immediately after a workout negatively effect your diet? (Alternatively, could one just reduce 20g of protein from your next scheduled polumbo-peanut butter shake to even everything out?)

DP: I don't feel it's necessary in a fat loss/muscle retention diet.  Your only goal is save the muscle you have so you don't have to worry about this "anabolic window."  When dieting on limited resources, everything gets utilized!

Just want to know your opinion regarding Vince Gironda's method of training..

DP:  It's a valid method of training.  I feel that the body likes to be shocked with different training regimens.  Having said that, FOR ME, my body always responded best to high intensity, low volume, training.

Do you recommend potassium loading the last couple days before a contest? Why or why not?

DP: No, you need to have your electrolytes in balance (sodium and potassium).  I only recommend diuretics (whether herbal-AQUALYZE-or prescription-DYAZIDE-that are potassium sparing (you lose sodium, retain potassium).  If you consume extra potassium with them, you'll actually increase the likelihood of cramping due to the fact that you'll disrupt the sodium and potassium balance even more due to the fact that you're only depleting sodium with the diuretics.

I recently read that the ingestion of cinnamon releases insulin. Is this true? If so, is this insulin release any significant when compared to the release following ingestion of carbohydrates?

DP: An extract of cinnamon can have an insulin-sensitizing effect......not an insulin-releasing effect.

Can drinking V8 be an acceptable alternative for eating vegetables in the off-season?

DP: If you like it, enjoy.  However, I bet most of those veggies in there are already oxidized and useless.

Hey Dave, I was curious as to what your opinion on avocado oil is. I picked up a bottle the other day and noticed that it is pretty similar to macadamia oil. It has a high smoke point, very light color and mild taste and is almost entirely monounsaturated fats. I do use mac nut oil too i was just wondering what you think about adding that into the imix

DP:  The composition of avocado oil is similar to macadamia nut oil but the taste is nowhere near as good.

What are your thoughts on raloxifene?

DP: It's a SERM like Nolvadex and it's much less effective for a male than an aromatase inhibitor such as Arimidex or Femara.

DP: It's not calorie or carb free so I would stay away.

Would it be alright to take Gaspari's Mytotropin with you Somalyze, I sleep like shit at night and I'd rather take Somalyze than regular sleeping pills

DP: It should be fine.  But I think you'll be happier with your results if you combine LIPOLYZE and SOMALYZE together.  The results will be superior due to the fact that usnic acid is a much stronger uncoupling agent that the ingredients in Mitotropin.  If you're looking for a blast of energy in your fat burner, then you might consider Mitotropin instead.

Hey Dave, what do you think of tea seed oil compared to mac oil for cooking? It is fairly cheap and has a high smoke point. Thanks

DP: This is the primary cooking oil in many eastern countries. It has a high smoke point and is mostly monounsaturated oleic acid.  I've never tasted it but I can't imagine that it's tastier than Macadamia Nut Oil............

Dave after I workout and before i start my cardio i have my post workout shake. Do you think it's best to have the post workout shake before or after cardio?

DP: Have it after cardio.

Ever since I competed last year in September i have been having real tendon issues, the problems started happening when i was taking winny during the cutting phase.

my tendons feel weak and only 6 weeks ago i frayed my chest tendon, what i would like to know is there anything i can take and do to improve my tendons?

 

I am taking GHRP-6 to help my injury's.

 

Any input would be very much appreciated!

DP:  A low dose of HGH (2iu's per day) for at least 6 months should help. You should also take a high potency Glucosamine and MSM supplemement. ARTHOLYZE has 4000mg of Glucoseamine and 4000mg MSM per day (in a 30-day supply).

Dave how do you feel about the natural herbal OTC diuretics lilke X-pel, Taraxatone, Muscletech's new Hydrazide, or your product Aqualyze? Be honest, does it really take out a good percentage of subcutaneous water that can be used before a show?

DP: I can't speak for all the other products, however, AQUALYZE is good enough to dry out any competitor who uses the product intelligently.  I've also utilized MHP's XPel as well in the past.  The only problem with Xpel is the caffeine.  It's hard to take it close to bedtime since it keeps you awake!

Dave - are deli meats acceptable on your diet? (example - 8oz of boars head turkey).

DP:  They work......... although they're not the highest quality protein.  Use it only in emergency situations.

What is your take on crystal light and when I plan my 6 meals a day should I plan a protein shake meal shortly before I lift and if so how much sooner?

DP: Plan your meals so you eat 1-2 hours before training and soon after.  Crystal Light is fine on my diet; just make sure it's not one of the new flavors that have a few grams of carbs added.

Dave, what's your take on Max-OT training principles? I've recently cut my volume down to their principles with their intensity (6-9 total heavy work sets for each body-part), except they advocate 4-6 reps per exercise where as I've been doing 6-10 reps per exercise. I'm actually loving the lower volume and heavier weight/more intensity in the workouts. My main focus is adding weight to the bar, which is their main focus as well.

 

For instance this is my current Chest workout. I follow their workout splits/exercises, I just upped the reps.

 

3 x 6-10 Flat Barbell Bench

3 x 6-10 Incline DB Bench

1 x 6-10 Weighted Dips

DP: I also advocate low volume and low reps. It looks great to me.

Dave, concerning your bulk diet, i saw its aimed at a 200lb male, i'm currently 230lb what would you recommend i should increase on the meals inorder to eat the amount of calories for my weight?

DP: Start with the diet as listed.  Almost everyone up to 250lbs can gain muscle on this diet.

Dave what are your views on sugar-free jello? Drinks like crystal light help fight most erges I have to cheat but sometimes I'm wanting something like a jello or popsickle. the sugar free jello is lower in calories! I'm loving the diet, Its a lifestyle thing for me I'm not dieting for a show or anything.

DP: These extra calories add up very quickly.  Crystal Light is fine but stay away from the other stuff.

Dave, I've been taking lg sciences methy masterdrol, w/ 100mgs of dhea a day w/ saw palmetto and novedex xt one a day.. i recently finished up 2 months of this, followed by novedex xt. and saw palmetto as pct

i have extreme depression now. is this normal.. whats the solution.

DP: Depression can be a side effect of low testosterone. You need to get blood work done and talk to your doctor about your problems. Make sure to get your testosterone, estrogen, DHT, and cortisol levels checked.

Dave, what do you think of Walden Farm's "calorie free" condiments? The ingredients seem to indicate that it would only have trace calories, but sometimes I wonder....

DP: This question always pops up and I always say to avoid them.  It just sounds too good to be true! If you can use them in moderation (which no one can), it should be okay to use!
