Muscle Gossip #22: Will Coleman Really Return to Stage? David Henry Switching to MMA?

Will Coleman Really Return to Stage?

Two weeks ago, Pro Bodybuilding Weekly reported that Ronnie Coleman was making a comeback at the Return of the Legends show in Miami on December 10th (Listen to PBW Radio Clip Here)

bodybuilding-ronnie-colemanPBW host Dan Solomon stated, "The promoter has confirmed. Ronnie Coleman is planning on competing in this contest." Texas NPC Chairman Lee Thompson added, "I spoke to the folks over at MetroFlex gym where Ronnie has trained for years-and Brian Dobson. By all accounts he is getting ready for this December show."

On the ACCESS BODYBUILDING episode that followed, Christina and I replayed the above quotes and discussed whether we believed that Ronnie would truly make a comeback (Listen to Access Bodybuidling Clip). During the show we decided to take Brian Dobson at his word, and stated that we believed it would happen. However, I would be remiss in my journalistic duty if I didn't investigate further. I called Brian Dobson and managed to catch him on his half-hour ride home from the gym, giving me ample time to press the hard questions. I discovered that Brian was far from certain about Ronnie's return:

"I honestly don't know if he's going to do it yet. He hasn't given me a 100% yes, or 100% no. He has been coming into the gym more than he normally has. I mean... He's very big. He's gotta be over three hundred pounds.

Dobson"I've offered him my help. I've offered him to do whatever I can to help him prepare for it, if he wants that. But like I said, he hasn't said for sure yet. Of course there is a lot of money involved, and I'm sure that's got to be a big factor in his decision. I would love to see him do it.

"It's something he's going to have to make a decision on pretty quick. He's going to have to gear up, get ready, and go to war. I know he's got some issues with his back, but I feel we could work around it. We'll just have to see. You know, the final decision will have to be up to Ronnie."

After we hung up I was left with the sense that while it may be possible that Ronnie would again lumber across the stage, the likelihood was slim. Personally, I would love to see The Big Nasty on stage in December, but if I had to make a wager, I'd bet against it.

Former 202 Champ David Henry Switching to MMA?

As many of you already know, David Henry will not be taking to the stage in 2011. Still active in the military, he was deployed earlier in the year to an "undisclosed location" overseas. What might Hnery1surprise you is what Henry is doing nowadays for cardio conditioning: Mixed Martial Arts. Is it possible that Henry's 2012 reappearance will be in a ring rather than on a stage? Will he begin to dominate a new and more dangerous sport? Regardless, if Henry does return to the stage, all his competitors better be aware that if they try to squeeze him out during a pose-down, they may just end up in a rear naked choke-that means you Ronny Rockel! Here are some pictures of Henry practicing his newfound MMA skills in the "undisclosed location."
