Danielle Destroys The Road To The Arnold: Blog 2

a4So I’m about 7 weeks out from the Arnold’s and I’m surprisingly calm.  I’m sure that won’t last very long haha! I know from past experiences that stressing out is just a waste of energy.  I am trying to remain focused and on track.

I think my anxiety’s come out at night while I sleep.  I have had some pretty crazy competition dreams lately.  For those who have competed before, you probably can relate.  For example I dream that I am about to go on stage and I haven’t had my color applied yet. Or my hair is wet and I can’t style it in time, or I’m on next  to perform my routine and haven’t warmed up yet!  I laugh at myself when I wake up and realize, “Thank God it was just a dream!”.

I’m happy to say that my routine practices are coming along well.  Every year after the routine is put together and choreographed I think, “How the heck will I EVER get through this??”  Then I practice, practice, and practice until the routine is in my muscle memory and the endurance is built up.  Pro routines are 2 minutes in length where at the Provincial and National level only 90 seconds.  Those extra 30 seconds means I need to be even more conditioned this year.  Also, the new IFBB Rules have changed the scoring so that the routine round is worth two thirds of the score, one third physique.  It used to be 50/50.  This means all the girls will be stepping up their game in the routine round.  I am trying to do the same.  I am SO very excited to perform my fitness routine on the Arnold Stage.  I visualize it every night before I go to bed.

I have noticed I have classic “diet brain” lately.  Everything seems a bit foggy and more challenging.   I find that it takes me longer to complete what would normally be simple tasks and I really have to focus when trying to process information.   Ah the joys of contest prep!  It’s hard but well worth the experience and reward of the day of the show.  Even now as I describe the hardships involved I am smiling:)

Next weekend I am going to Mike Davies Fitness Camp! This is exciting because it will be the first time I am meeting my coach in person.  I am anxious to hear his feedback on how I am doing.  I’m certain it’s going to be an amazing experience!DANIRUBAN11G-315G

I am truly grateful for the people who support this journey.  My family, friends, coworkers, my amazing Sponsors, Revolution Nutrition, The OPA, my clients and my fans really help me more than they know.  I am dedicating this show to them. Thanks for standing by me all the way!
