Spotlight On: Monique Jones

Spotlight On: Monique Jones

na night showCategory you compete in: IFBB Female Bodybuilder

Date of birth: 03-12-1979

Hometown: Greenville, SC

Career: Office Manager of Proactive Health Performance Center & Contest Prep Coach

What is your favorite contest prep recipe? Twice cooked tilapia and asparagus (I bake the tilapia and cook the green beans first, then store till ready to eat then cook on stove top with 1 Tbsp of Macdamian nut oil made by Species Nutrition)

What part of your physique are you currently working on?Focus mostly on coming in tighter and more conditioned, but with emphasis on lower body development.

guest2Name one piece of nutrition/fitness advice that has stuck with you.Lol...If it tastes really good then more than likely it's probably bad for you.  I enjoy my food now just want more of it.  That's just a part of the prep.

If you could compete in one other event (FBB, physique, figure, fitness, bikini) which would it be and why?Lol..Since I'm all about being sassy and sexy would have to go with Bikini.  I try to always bring that to FBB when I present myself, so it would be an easy transition for me. Minus the extra weight.

Why NPC: Because it is a highly recognized federation in the bodybuilding world that keeps growing.

What do you like best about competing? I'm very competitive with myself and enjoy being a positive influence on others.  It also helps with discipline and tests my dedication with life itself.

Competition history:Haha..Too many to put on here.  I did compete in figure for 5 years and have been competing in FBB for 5 years.  I pretty much have done more shows than I can count on my two hands and feet.  I was placing first in all my figure shows then had to switch over in 2006 to FBB.

Next competition:2011 Tampa Pro Show in June

Hobbies: I'm a big shopper especially during prep time.  Haha... Helps take my mind off of food.

What is the biggest lesson you have learned over the years when it comes to competing? The biggest lesson I've learned is that my life has to be clear of any outside negative interferences and I have to surround  myself in a more positive atmosphere, because contest prep takes a lot out of you mentally and physically.I'm all about being positive and not allowing the little things to effect me.

imagejpeg_2_6What is your favorite contest prep supplement?SOMALYZE!!! By Species Nutrition..  I don't think I could sleep much without it, especially towards the end of contest prep.

Favorite Quote: "I am strong because I know my weaknesses.  I am alive because I am a fighter.  I am wise because I have been foolish.  I laugh because I have known sadness.  Because of these things, I am Blessed."
