Danielle Destroys The Road To The Arnold-Blog 3

a4Hi friends!

So I am 4 weeks out from the Arnold and am feeling great!

I have moments of doubt and panic, but I know that won’t help me one bit so I refocus and think POSITIVE. This opportunity is exactly that: a great opportunity to show everyone just what I am made of. I know how hard I have worked up until now and I am going to do all I can to showcase that hard work in 24 days.

I took a video of my routine and saw where changes need to be made. It’s funny I feel like it was near ready but I see lots of little places, such as transitions that need to be cleaned and polished. I also need to really work hard on my cardio and conditioning. Whenever I practice my body seems to just crumble 10 seconds from the end of the song! I realize I can’t just ‘hope for the best’ on competition day. This routine needs to be perfect consistently. So I will continue to practice, practice and practice some more!

I have really noticed that the symmetry between my upper and lower body looks much better than last year. My upper body is keeping more size as I lean down and my lower body looks tighter than before. I am quite happy with this progress. It’s amazing how the body can change over time and consistency. That’s one reason I love this sport so much. You consistency strive towards never ending self-improvement.

At times I feel overwhelmed. As anyone who has competed knows there is always sacrifice involved. Things like work and a social life get put on the back burner. I can’t multi-task how I normally can when I’m not in contest prep. My energy is lower than usual and the majority of my focus is on the show. Therefore these other areas of life get put on hold. I try to simplify my life by avoiding taking on anything extra. I say ‘no thank you’ to social gatherings. I accept that the house won’t always look perfect. It is hard, but temporary. I know that now is my time for following my dreams. To achieve great things there must be great sacrifice. Up until now the sacrifices have always been worth it. I know this time around is no different. I believe in what I am doing and I believe in me. I wouldn’t trade being a Fitness Competitor for anything. I love it so much!2011fitfig 28
