Spotlight On: Essence Monet

essence6Category you compete in: Figure

Date of birth: December 5, 1984

Hometown: Chicago, Illinois

Career: personal trainer/administrative assistant/student

Sports background: Track and Field, basketball

Why NPC: It’s the biggest organization and it leads you into the IFBB which is the best. Wouldn’t have it any other way.

What do you like best about competing? I love the day of the show. I like getting all dolled up and presenting on stage. Its always a blast with my team.

Competition history:
2008 Illinois State: 10th Place
2009 NPC Continental: 5th Place
2009 NPC Sacramento: 5th Place
2010 Emerald Cup: 1st Place
2011 Arnold Amateur: 4th Place
2011 Atlantic States: 5th Place

Next competition: 2011 North Americans (first national level show)

Competitors you look up to: Gina Aliotti, Alicia Harris, Nicole Wilkins, Erin Stern, Monica Brant, Valerie Waugaman but the list can go on and on.

Favorite cheat food: Anything that I am not suppose to have. I love food in general. I don’t discriminate.

essence3Favorite diet food: Egg whites and oatmeal keep my sanity in check. I love making them into protein pancakes.

Favorite body part to train: Back is my absolute favorite, I am always trying to improve it more and more. I am genetically gifted in that area, so it’s never been an issue to train.

Least favorite body part to train: Legs, they grow too easy if I train them too much and are a pain to bring down. I tend to not do anything heavy but instead a ton of reps.

Hobbies: Traveling and enjoying my life with friends and family.

Words to live by:

“Never show them your hand…”

“Through Christ ALL things ARE POSSIBLE.” Matthew 19:26
