How to Beat Down Excuses That Derail You from Your Fitness Goals

excuses for fitnessHow to Beat Down Excuses That Derail You from Your Fitness Goals

By Dr. Stacey Naito, Physician and IFBB Bikini Pro

I am grieving as I write this, because a very dear friend whose end of life care I was assisting in just passed away less than 24 hours ago.  Though I am very rattled by this, I made sure to hit the gym first thing this morning, and I ate clean all day, packing and carrying my meals, with only one transgression which was a bottle of cold sake I had promised to myself and my friend once he had passed on.  No matter how rough life is, I will not jeopardize all the hard work I put into building muscle and sculpting a physique that I could proudly display on the IFBB Pro stage this year.

Kristin Poundstone Baby Journal: Half Way There!

So I’ve hit the half-way point… 20 weeks (technically 21 tomorrow, I count every minute!).  All the baby books and iPhone apps told me to celebrate… going out with my husband, getting a massage, etc. I celebrated by going to the gym and training arms and back.  I am celebrating the fact that I can still move around and be active!  There are women who are told they can’t exercise, not even walk and, in fact, some can’t even carry groceries in the house!  I don’t know what I would do with myself, so I feel blessed.

What kind of goals have you set for yourself? Short-term and long-term?  Short term I want to find a job that fits more in the realm of health and influences me to go to school. I want to continue going to the gym and staying fit. Long term, I plan on working to the best of my ability to gain my pro card and go to school for physical therapy in sports science. I also want a good long standing life...

What do you feel is the WORST part of contest prep?  For me the first couple of weeks were grueling.  Adjusting to the amount of food I was consuming, as well as the frequency, was a process.  I was so uncomfortable, sometimes taking and hour or more to get through my meals.  Before I knew it, it was time to eat again.  In the beginning, eating was way more challenging than the workouts.

Marie Blanchard, “The Haitian Beauty” Tackles Bikini!

As the old saying goes, “First impressions mean everything.” So, it only stands to reason that one look at the stunning NPC Bikini competitor Marie Blanchard leaves quite the first impression. If the name of the twenty-eight year old native of Port-au-Prince, Haiti sounds familiar it may be because you’ve seen her appear everywhere from movies and magazine spreads to print ads, commercials, and music videos as she carved out a name for herself as an entrepreneurial force.

If you could change into a superhero for a day who would you be and why? Well first off who wouldn’t want to be a superhero? If I could choose I would want to be supergirl.  I’m sure most people feel the same way when I say there is just never enough time in the day. If I had super speed like supergirl I could finish everything I do on a normal day and still have time to save the world.

Exercising Safely with Health Issues

dasfafvadfvExercising Safely with Health Issues

Here at Faith and Fitness we spend a lot of time focusing on the mental, the emotional and, ultimately, the spiritual benefits of exercise. While weight loss, flatter abs, and stronger muscles are certainly welcome benefits, they are not the driving force. What’s most important is that exercise can be a form of worship that brings you closer to god, no matter what your fitness level.
