Jami's Olympia Journal.....

Jami's Olympia Journal.....

tricepThe 3 day Labor Day weekend, a time for relaxation, leisure and all the food you want right???? NOT!

On the good side I was able to sleep in on Saturday and there is nothing better than good sleep.  It was a cardio-centric weekend and I had to wrap up shoulders.  Got both out of the way and was on target with the meals.  It was great spending time with my family and they have all been very supportive.  We took receipt of our space where our new gym is going to go.  It is both exciting and scary at the same time.  We had to wait for the locksmith for what seemed to be hours.  Luckily I had planned with a meal and was prepared to deal with the delay.  Chicken and asparagus, quite an unusual meal don’t you think?

Sunday started out just as good with sleeping in a bit.  In keeping with the leisurely theme of the weekend I did sprints on the treadmill AND did the stair stepper.  As Rosanne Rosanadana used to say, “I thought I was gonna die.”  Made it through and made it to the best part of the workout, the end.

We had a little victory with the kids cleaning their rooms.  We had tried everything from withholding cooking to threats of some intolerable pain.  Nothing worked until we cracked the code and withheld the...wait for it…the internet!!!  We added some incentive by requiring that both rooms be cleaned before the internet was restored.  To our amazement they actually helped each other.  Who knew?

Now you are probably wondering what clean rooms have to do with training for the Olympia.  That comes in the epilogue with the chocolate chip cookie reward that went with the clean rooms.  That’s right, the person in training got the honor of preparing the cookies.  There were two left and my husband ate them by telling me he was saving me from eating them, as if right?  Don’t tell him but he was probably right and as he always says, “the best way to avoid temptation is to avoid temptation.”

Monday is the holiday so slept in a bit and that was a gift.  In keeping with the holiday tradition donuts were procured for the kids.  I know, I know, such healthy food at the home of the Olympian right?  Well, the kids work hard and they support me so I like to give back a bit.  Husband ate two to “save me”, as if!  Made it to the gym for some chest, triceps and, here is a shocker, cardio!

Monday comes to a close with an interesting meal of chicken and salad, so unusual right? Watched “True Blood” with the husband.  It was one of the best episodes we have seen in a while.   We caught up with a few of our progams over the weekend that included “Necessary Roughness” and “Royal Pains.”

With the close of the weekend I am looking forward the start of the week.  Every day brings a good dose of excitement, disbelief, anxiety and did I mention excitement? I am truly blessed to be on this journey and the little tinges of doubt are more that outweighed by the shear gratitude and did I mention excitement? Tomorrow will be a very unusual.  I am going to do something that is rarely seen or heard of in the fitness industry.  Before you start thinking about the donut diet let me set you.  straight.  Tomorrow will be filled with, that’s right, CARDIO!

Check in with you soon.JMP 3095
