What do youmey2 feel is the WORST part of contest prep?

The last week of contest prep is very difficult for me because although I look like I could move a mountain my energy level is usually very low due to the strict contest diet. My three sons always like me at this point because they can usually get away with more than what there used to.

Would you please tell us a little about your workout schedule?

I do cardio 5-6 times a week 40-50 min's. I love running bleachers & sprints you can always find me at a local track. I weight train 5 days a week. I love "leg day" any exercise that involves working my butt, thighs and calves are enjoyable to me. Those are the areas that build the easiest for me and always have the best definition so they’re fun to train.

If you had to lose one of your 5 senses, which one would you prefer to lose and why?

I would have to pick my sense of taste because being a competitor it would be helpful with the cravings I sometimes get during contest prep. It would also be easier to stay healthy because I wouldn't be able to taste the "bad" food. Although, it does make me wonder without my sense of taste what would I do after a competition? I usually eat a big burger, but I guess I could go bowling with my family instead.

If you could change one things about this sport what would it be?

The only thing I would change about this sport is how expensive it can get. Not so much the entry fees to compete but everything else that goes into trying to compete against the top competitors in the sport. I am so blessed to be sponsored by Michael Parrella the CEO & Founder of Ilovekickboxing & MHP Supplements. Without them it would be very difficult for me to compete.

If you had a time capsule what would you put inside it and why?

I make DVD's from video and pictures I take throughout the year of my family and friends. We watch them on the holidays and have so much fun reminiscing. I would takSILVER1e those with some other heart felt heirlooms. Hopefully we still have DVD players when they open the time capsule.

What is your favorite vacation spot?

Definitely Hawaii! My husband Kai and I went there on our honeymoon. We went to all the islands. It was true paradise!

What advice do you have for women who would like to get involved in and compete in the sport of bodybuilding? If you are a true competitor you will rise up to the challenge of what it takes to be on stage. No words of advice or trainer can make you what you have the ability to become. If you do this for yourself, you will succeed. Don't worry about what others look like or what they say because ultimately its you vs. yourself on that stage. So just bring your best and forget the rest!

What is a day-in-the-life of Teresa Oxford like?

To be honest my schedule is never the same! Having three kids under the age of 4 years old I have no choice but to workout around there schedule. I have a gym in my home so it does make things easier.  I always find time to do cardio. Its definitely not always easy especially when my husband is working at the firehouse, but I figure it out. I know that there are no excuses if I want to reach the top.

Most days I will go to the rail trail or local track with the kids to sprint or run bleachers. They actually enjoy being outdoors so it’s a great way to workout while spending time with them. I will weight lift in my basement when they are napping. I prepare my food for the week so it makes eating healthy very easy.

Favorite Motivational Quote:

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” – Muhammad Ali (World Champion Boxer)

In closing, Who would you like to give a shOxford14out out to?

I have to give a big shout out to my Husband Kai for always having faith & confidence in me. My three little boys Landen, Owen and Gage who inspire me everyday! My father Terry, mother Holly, sisters Jackie & Carol. Also, my sister in law Gwynne and twin brother Larry Cosh.  I'm so blessed to be a Sponsored Athlete/Fitness Model with The MHP Team also Michael Parrella The CEO & Founder of iLoveKickboxing.com He has believed in me from day one. Lastly, a special shout out to AJ Jawa Photography and Tabitha Sierra's owner of Brick House Bodies. She’s a great friend and outstanding coach!
