Category you compete in: Women’s Bodybuilding
Date of birth: 7/19/89
Hometown: Buffalo, New York
Career: Hairdresser

How does your family respond to your competing?
Let’s just say I am the black sheep of my family. My family does not understand how I have time for this lifestyle, how I work 40+ hours a week as a hairdresser, eat every 3 hours, workout an hour plus daily, sometimes 2 times a day, and prepare all my 6 meals for the day. You really do have the time though to do all that, you just have to want it and make it happen! People say, “Ewe fish and broccoli, that’s not food!” People think I starve myself because I might only be able to have 4oz of cooked meat with no carbs, which looks like nothing, but really that’s all my body needs. I’ve learned to accept all the comments and remarks. I have to understand that other people just don’t understand me.  I just wish some people could hold out, be strong, determined and try to watch their body change with a clean diet and a little exercise. You will make progress!! This honestly could have been one of the best things that ever happened to me. When I was a young teenager I got into drinking and drugs and everything else that comes along with that. I didn’t go to school, I never was home, and I ate complete garbage. A bag of potato chips and a 2 liter of pop would be my breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I then met my boyfriend of 8 years, Christopher. He really opened my eyes. He taught me that I am a strong, beautiful person with a huge heart, and can do anything imaginable. After hanging out with him I obviously had no choice but to change because he was not going to put up with my rebellious behavior. I feel truly blessed to have him in my life, because he is my life. We do everything together from grocery shopping, cooking, working out to sleeping! He could have lost his life at 8 years old, due to bone cancer, but Chris's his family had to make the hardest decision of their life and that was to amputate his leg. It’s amazing to watch him out work people that are slacking and being lazy with no disabilities. His leg can be very sore, even bleeding, and he will still make it to the gym. It really is not even an excuse for him, even with the pain he faces. He does not like pity for his disability, and wants to be treated like he does not have one.  At the end of the day, every day, his prosthetic comes off and he is reminded of the sickness he beat! We live this lifestyle together. I have all his support, and that’s all I need. We are partners in and out of the gym. He has helped me change my life and together we want to help others.

What kind of goals have you set for yourself, short-term and long-term?
I want to maintain a healthy life style of eating good and working out. I’d like to add some size and keep competing. I have met so many wonderful people competing in shows. It’s an adrenalin rush to be up on stage. You feel like you’re a million bucks up there. It’s your time to shine and show off what hard work and determination and dedication does. It’s a feeling I can’t really explain. It’s breathless, and I just wish everyone would give this lifestyle a chance. After eating junk, being obese, and having no confidence, never in a million years would I have thought I would be doing anything like this. I feel powerful and want to represent women that are healthy, strong, and muscular.

What's cu552932 630413053641903 2044617801 nrrently on your iPod?
My iPod is broke!!!

What are your hobbies and interests outside of the bodybuilding world?
Bodybuilding is an all day, all year around kind of job! I do not go out. I have never been to a bar. I maybe have a handful of drinks a year, and that’s really only a few sips because I cannot even handle having alcohol. Chris and I like to try different kind of foods and really get enjoyment by doing that together.

Do you have a favorite exercise?
It changes... but, I’d have to say back. I love squeezing my back when doing pull ups and lat pull downs, I get a good stretch!

Favorite Fitness Tip:
Squeeze the muscle! Really feel that muscle working! Make it hurt! Hold that pause, don’t lose constant tension! Connect your mind to the muscle! O yeah... and, you’re not going to die, so keep going! A little pain won’t kill you!

Who would you like to thank?
Christopher!! I can be brutal! He is there for me 24/7/365! He help72844 455966487815284 1950168405 ns prepare my meals, keeps me on track, hits the gym with me daily, and deals with my stinky sweaty butt! But most of all, he loves me unconditionally, and that’s all I could ask for!
