229316_10150160139436557_596421556_7239490_8378299_nCategory you compete in: Women's Bodybuilding

Date of birth: April 27th, 1972

Hometown:
Anchorage, Alaska

Career: Personal Trainer, Dietary Manager, mother of 5

What is your favorite contest prep recipe?

A Chocolate Viennese Cake made with Orange Max Pro: 1 c oatmeal (ground), 1 c Kashi Lean (ground), 3 Tblsp Cocoa, 1 tsp Espresso Powder, 2 Scoops Orange Max Pro, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 tsp baking soda, 2 tsp baking powder, ½ tsp salt, 1 c egg whites, 1 c 2% cottage cheese, ¾ Splenda, ¼ cup black coffee. Blend with mixer and pour into an 8x8 pyrex dish. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes. Top with strawberries if you have the carbs. You can also switch out the Orange Max Pro for Banana Max Pro and put natural peanut butter on top of cake after it's cooled.

What part of your physique are you currently working on?
Lats and hamstrings. I would love to have a bigger back. I have the shoulder girth for it, I just have to fill it in. My hamstrings have always been a challenge. They are there but they aren't freaky per se like Kristy Hawkins.
Laughing

Name one piece of nutrition/fitness advice that has stuck with you.
In the off season I would have to say it's the eat clean during the week rule and have a some cheats on the weekend. It seems to help keep me within the 10-15lbs of competition weight.

If you could compete in one other event (FBB, physique, figure, fitness, bikini) which would it be and why? I'm actually considering Women's physique for National's. I'm still on the fence. Part of it would be because I feel like a raging nag when I'm at the end of contest prep because I get so lean. Raging nag and 5 children do not make for a happy household. You know the old saying "If mamma aint happy, nobody's happy". My 16 year old son often refers to my bitch o'meter as being topped out at the end of contest prep. J Fortunately, the kids are very supportive of the sport and just disregard my impatience when I'm hungry. They have learned that if I have not eaten yet, they need to give me some space until I can get some food in me.

Why NPC: Why not? Who wants to do a show that requires months of sacrifice, hard work, and dedication just to get no coverage at all? Not me. The NPC offers the most coverage and the most opportunity for female bodybuilders at this time. However, it does look like the look of FBB is going to change with the Women's Physique Division being brought in, and I'm okay with that too. I feel that I can be competitive in both divisions.
What do you like best about competing? The journey. The struggle, the ability to pull everything together, and to do it well. The fact that I can still work, be the hockey mom, bake the cakes, and cookies, while still pursuing my own passion of competing and doing it well. I also love doing this sport with my husband Shawn who shares my passion for bodybuilding.

What are your goals for the future? I would like to obtain my Pro card and continue to work with competitive athletes. I think eventually my husband and I would like to run our own training facility. It has been a passion and dream of ours.

untitled_aWhat is the biggest lesson you have learned over the years when it comes to competing? To perpetuate the image that I want to represent the sport. I love what I do, and it's a shame that there are some competitors that do it a dis-service by doing things that don't reflect well on women in our industry. I've also learned how important it is to be a good ambassador of the sport and to help & lift up my fellow competitors. I believe that the good vibes I put out, do come back 10 fold.
What is your favorite contest prep supplement? Max Pro! It's one of the few protein powders that I can use that doesn't tear up my tummy. As most of the women in our industry know, our diet can be really....well...can cause gas. Max Pro was the first protein powder I found that works well for me.

Favorite Quote: "TO LAUGH OFTEN AND MUCH; TO WIN THE RESPECT OF INTELLIGENT PEOPLE AND THE AFFECTION OF CHILDREN;TO EARN THE APPRECIATION OF HONEST CRITICS AND ENDURE THE BETRAYAL OF FALSE FRIENDS; TO APPRECIATE BEAUTY; TO FIND THE BEST IN OTHERS; TO LEAVE THIS WORLD A BIT BETTER, WHETHER BY A HEALTHY CHILD, A GARDEN PATCH OR REDEEMED SOCIAL CONDITION, TO KNOW EVEN ONE LIFE HAS BREATHED EASIER BECAUSE YOU HAVE LIVED ;THIS IS TO HAVE SUCCEEDED." - RALPH WALDO EMERSON

I believe Debbie Bramwell turned me onto this one. It's still my favorite.
