Spotlight On: Jessica Jordan

Spotlight On: Jessica Jordan

Category you compete in: NPC Figure, Class "A"Jessica_3434 web

Date of birth: December 11, 1984

Hometown: Laguna Hills, CA

Career: I acquired my B.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science. I originally wanted to go into Physical Therapy and later decided personal training was my true passion. I love to see the changes and transform people's lives through exercise and nutrition. I have owned my personal training business in Orange County, CA for about 4 years, www.jessicaryanjordan.com and I also put together online programs for clients all over the country!

Sports background: I played soccer (High School and Club) for many years. I also ran cross-country for 3 years, where I was awarded runner of the year my senior year in HS.  I also ran the 800m, 1600m and 3200m in track. My favorite of all my HS sports was cross-country, probably because I was the best at it. I started taking up weight lifting my senior year in HS and everything is history from there.

Why NPC: When I first started competing, the NPC was all I knew about. So pretty much I just stayed within it. I really enjoy competing in the NPC, I have made so many wonderful friends and I can't wait to continue expanding my NPC network!

What do you like best about competing? Most would probably say a specific moment, but for me it is the entire journey. I love the ups, the downs, the sweat, the glamour, the tears, the laughter, the pain, the euphoria, the gains, the losses, the drive, the persistence and I can't fail to mention the STAGE, basically all of it! When I am prepping for a show is when I am the happiest. Yes, it does put a hindrance on your social life, but I do my best to balance everything out just right. Every time I compete I learn something new about what to do the next time around. I feel this next prep, which is starting April 1st is going to be the most exciting one yet, I can't wait!

Favorite cheat food:

Frozen Yogurt - with all the yummy stuff on it AND sweet potato fries

Favorite diet food:

Yams smothered with stevia and cinnamon, yummmm!

Favorite body part to train:

Shoulders, the reason being, this is my weakest body part, not in regards to strength but due to size. I have always had a difficult time getting my delts to grow. I think I have finally grown some nice round delts and I can't wait to see what I have achieved during this last off-season!

Least favorite body part to train:

Biceps, they are just boring for me. My biceps grow at a faster rate than my shoulders so I lift pretty light, so it can be quite boring due to the lack of a challenge.

Hobbies:

Training, competing, cooking, reading, helping others improve their quality of life, anything outside pretty much, sports (all of them), and most importantly spending time with all my loved ones, family and friends. I have the most unbelievable support system and I could not thank them more!DSC_0607
