Spotlight On: Lindsey Morrison

Category you compete in: IFBB Pro BikiniDKP_0021-DIG

Date of Birth: March 3, 1988

Hometown: Denver, CO

Career: Student, Personal Trainer

Sports background:
I grew up playing and watching sports all my life. I was a soccer player and softball pitcher throughout my entire adolescence. I had to ultimately make the decision to stop playing due to tearing my labrum in both hips.

Why NPC: To be honest, The NPC was the only organization I had heard about when I decided to join. After competing and meeting fellow competitors, I wouldn't want to be a part of anything else. The amazing people and support system throughout this organization is beyond belief. You form bonds like it's your family.

What do you like best about competing? The empowerment you get from training and competing is what keeps me going back to the gym time after time. I decided that I was going to start training and competing after I went through a life changing experience in college. I was assaulted, and after that felt like my life was so far gone from my own hands. I was insecure, I felt weak and helpless, and I felt stripped of any self worth. I started working out hard and over time my confidence started to grow. I became strong and felt like I could take on the world.  Training for me is not only about staying healthy and fit, it is a tool for me, as it should be for many others, as a way to deal and cope with life's many trials and tribulations. There are always going to be situations in your life that you can't control. For me, the gym is where I feel completely in control. Whether or not I am a competitor, I will always want to train hard and set goals for myself. The competition part is when you put all aspects together; persistence, hard work, beauty, and confidence. It all shines through once you get on that stage.

Competition History:

2010 Max Muscle Mile High Championship (Overall bikini Champ)

2010 Jr. Nationals (2nd place Bikini C)

2010 Team Universe (2nd place Bikini B, Earned Pro card)

2010 Ft. Lauderdale Pro (7th)

Next Competition: I'm taking on L.A. in two weeks! Culver City, Muscle Contest, March 26th. And many more to come this season!

DSC_0857_UHRJTEUZIJCompetitors you look up to: All competitors, whether bikini, figure, or bodybuilding, inspire me in some way. The dedication you see in each division is motivation in itself. Of course, I love to read and catch up on all the top bikini competitors- Sonya Gonzales, Nathalia Melo, Amanda Latona, Shelsea Montes...all beautiful! The list goes on.

Favorite Cheat Food: Peanut Butter. It's not the actual peanut butter that's the problem. It's the self-control, or lack thereof. There's no such thing as moderation with my PB when it come to this girl, it's all or nothing. It has to be completely eliminated from my diet when it's time to start cutting.

Favorite Diet Food: Protein pancakes. Egg whites, Protein powder, and Oats. Simple and delicious! I think the more you can trick yourself into thinking you are indulging, the easier it is to diet.

Favorite body part to train: Legs and back. They are my strongest points and I'm all about feeling strong.

Least favorite body part to train: Abs and Calves. Those babies burn!

Hobbies: Cooking, dancing, swimming, hiking, biking, sporting events, movies.

Words to live by:

" When you can't do anymore, do two more and scold yourself for not doing three."

"Ability is what your capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it."

" There is no need to obsess over a decision, God has more in store for us than we can ever predict. And what we fear are bad decisions usually turn out for the best, because our hidden aspirations know better where we are going than our rational minds."
