Gym Junkie: Rose Brunner IFBB Pro: Is It Worth It?

First I want to start out by saying thank you to masters2Rx Girl. It is an honor to be involved in such a great community of athletes. This is my first blog for RxMuscle girl. I wasn’t sure what I was going to write until today.

Someone asked me “Is it worth it? All the dieting, the training, the sacrifices.”

I didn’t even hesitate or have to think about it  HELL YEAH IT IS!

For those that don’t or haven’t ever competed, it is hard to understand that it is more than that, it goes beyond the diet and training, beyond walking on stage and a trophy.

It is about accomplishment, self discipline, pushing yourself to your limits and beyond, and the biggest one for me is inspiring others to want to do something with their lives, to make a change and improve themselves.

Is it worth it? YES, it sure is.

When you look back, whether it’s at photos, how you placed at a show or just having walked on stage at your first competition you can say “YEAH, I did that!” What a great feeling. Be proud of yourself for having a goal, envisioning it, and following through.

So is it worth it? YES, it is!

We can relate this to any aspect of life. Whether you are training for a competition, marathon, starting a business, attending school or advancing in your career. There are things you will have to do that you don’t want to, sacrifices you will have to make, it will be hard, you will go face obstacles and possibly set backs. But if it is what you truly desire, and it is what you want to achieve you won’t see the obstacles, sacrifices or what you have to “give up”. Your passion  will drive you, motivate you. You will visualize all the benefits and what you have to gain.....and YES it will be worth it!

Many people go through life focusing on what they have to give up instead of what they have to gain.  I look at it as a barter or trade off.  Yes we do give up many things but what do we get in returnrxgirl3. For all the things that people see that we sacrifice, what they don’t see, because it is not visible to the eye, is what we gain. Self confidence, pride, a sense of accomplishment, respect for ourselves, honor and commitment to our goals, the strength and fortitude to carry ourselves through our darkest days and keep pushing and the satisfaction of knowing you achieved what the majority only dream of. So, would you trade your pizza or cake for that? Is it worth it? Can I get a HELL YEAH!!! Because we all know it is and at the end of it you get the pizza and cake and you thoroughly enjoy each and every bite.

I’m not Willy Wonka, I don’t sugar coat things. It will be hard, at times it will be VERY hard.  You will want to quit. Self doubt will creep in your head and you will question why you are doing this. There will be days of pain, heartache and tears....yes there has been crying on the stair master but part of the greatness, the self fulfillment and accomplishment is overcoming these battles. For it is the hard that makes it so great, if it was easy everyone would be doing it and then what value does it hold if everyone can achieve it? It is knowing this, knowing it will be hard, there will be struggles and obstacles and we still choose to do it, WHY? Because we can, because we are strong and determined in our pursuit of achieving greatness within ourselves.

Is it worth it? To me, and the many athletes I know it is a resounding YES!!!

“Success is not just the crowning moment, the spiking of the ball in the end zone or the raising of the flag on the summit. It is the whole process of having a goal, following through, and inspiring people along the way”
