Stephanie Willes Walks Into the Pro Ranks: Blog 1: 6-15-13

June 15, 2013 will be a day forever etched in my mind. This day is the dStephanie-Willes-366ay that I imagined would only happen in my dreams. On this day I earned IFBB Pro status…….

Five short years ago I was merely a spectator in the audience of the 2008 NPC USA Bodybuilding, and Figure Championships. This was my first experience with bodybuilding. I was there to support a friend who had made the commitment of being a competitor in figure. I was just a regular girl from a small town who wanted to burst out of her shell. Seeing those girls walk out on stage, my mouth was wide open, in ah of these stunning physiques. I knew immediately that this is what I wanted to do. But could I do it? Could I turn this soft, skinny, small town girl into a hard, sexy, muscular and confident woman? Well at first I wasn’t quite sure and I had many doubts as I started my journey but later I would find out that my impetus was to better myself for myself and no matter what obstacles are put in the way I can persevere through anything as long as I believe in myself.

You can achieve the things that you want in life with a positive outlook, a humbled heart, and a drive for greatness. My husband mentioned to me the night I won my pro card about the beginning of our journey together.  He said, “Do you remember when you came to me and asked me to coach you for a show? Well when I did your first diet plan I labeled the file for you to be named ‘Road to the Pros’ and every diet plan I have ever done for you is in that file.” I couldn’t help but smile ear to ear because quite honestly I had forgotten all about it. What a great feeling to put something out there, something that seems almost unobtainable at the time; to now having achieved that goal.
It wasn’t all sweet potatoes and chicken breast along the way, I can say that much! There was the death of my grandmother, a divorce, a move to Las Vegas with my current husband and three kids. There was being sick and hospitalized and then the start of my college education. All these things happened because it is life and it isn’t always perfect like we want it to be. If all I had to worry about was competing I would have a lot less grey hairs than I do now! Sometimes life has been so hectic that cardio had to be done at 6am in the living room before the kids got up for school and I had to head to school. Other times I had to study for an exam and cardio didn’t get done until 11pm that night. Through all of this I woke up every morning to a reminder on my phone and this is what it said, word for word: “Visualize the win!! I am Incredible! I train hard and eat perfect today and every day! I am making myself lucky! Win WinWin!! I am an IFBB Pro!!!” I would say this over and over and over and visualize not just the win but everything I would do to get it. I imagined smelling the fumes of Jantana and hearing Lonnie Tepers Voice announce my name as the winner. I visualized my quarter turns, mandatories and both routines step by step. My point ladies is this, if you want something all you need to do is believe in yourself, dig deep within and conquer each tasks as is comes your way. It doesn’t have to be for a competition it can be for a weight loss goal, a goal of a high GPA or getting that house with the white picket fence. No matter what your heart desires it can be yours if you put in the work and have determination.

We all have little photo 1bouts of negativity that slip in and throw us off track but, keep control of these thoughts and knock em out with positive thinking. You are beautiful, you are strong, you can do anything!! I can’t stress enough how important happiness and well-being are to becoming successful. Sometimes life seems as if it’s a three ring circus and you know what, that is fine by me! As long as everyone is happy and healthy than all is well in the Willes household. Try not to sweat the small stuff and enjoy each moment of everyday.

So now that I have achieved something that almost seemed impossible at one point in my life, I can set new goals and continue on staying positive and making sure the well-being and happiness of life are stabilized in harmony. Competing has been such a positive force in my life in so many ways. It has given me confidence that I never knew I could have. When I’m on that stage I feel as if I can do anything, and I think this is how you know you are meant to do what you are doing. Competing has enhanced my social life by putting wonderful new friends into it. It has given me a healthy balanced lifestyle that I can pass on to my kids and many others as well. I look forward to all the new people, places and challenges on my new journey. This achievement has made me see things on a grander scale and I am looking forward to my new journey as an IFBB Pro.
I hope to share with you as much as I can. To inspire, motivate, encourage and guide others to find the greatness they have inside of them if ever they lose sight of it.

Until next time Rx Girls…..xoxoxo
