WOW!!! What a crazy few weeks since the end of my first Pro show in Dallas…  I am very pleased at getting 4th place and look forward to stepping on stage again. The critique was simple “NEED TIGHTER GLUTES AND LEGS.”  Tell me something I didn’t already know.  I am in the process of prepping for my next show before the end of the year, Kentucky Pro and then Miami. I might do both or I might just do one. I like to take my time with things but I also have to remember to “Strike while the Iron is Hot.”

It hasn’t been an easy few weeks since stepping off stage. I got hit with strep throat and was knocked on my behind for 2 weeks!!! Now in our industry two weeks is a lot of valuable time that could be used in the gym improving or just maintaining until the next show. So, in those two weeks I wasn’t able to do anything and that includes eating my regular prep food. My tonsils were the size of golf balls, ea557477 626271415577 702156306 nting my usual chicken, sweet potatoes, vegetables and etc. was like tossing fire balls down my throat. Needless to say it was very painful. But I am motivated and looking forward to seeing how well I can bring it in for a possible showing at the Kentucky Pro.

Even when you are down and out, I always believe that you just have to keep going. Unless the circumstances require you to sit down and rest.  It is so important that we take care of the one body that we do have so that we can continue to run like well-oiled machines. There are always going to be those moments when you have to listen to your body instead of going against it. But that’s ok!!! This sport isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, trust me. As long as there are bedazzled suit makers, Jan Tana, gyms and a stage to strut on, competing is here to stay!! But sometimes you just need a break. Don’t think of it as a sign of weakness, just think of it as a way to continue to grow and get better.

So, with that I am going to keep it short and sweet today… but will leave you with a quote :)

“Yes, to know thyself means this, that you get acquainted with what you know, and what you can do.”
