Apprime Fit by Michelle Blank: Blog 2

Happy Easter Everyone!  I’m taphoto 2king a few moments to write this blog while visiting my family during a 32 hour visit to the Tri-State area (NJ, PA & De).  I’ve heard many times this weekend, “I don’t know how you do it; your always on the go.”  Well I’ve learned from making these quick trips over the last 2 years to not overcommit.  I prioritize the things I need to get done, want to get done, and if time allows would like to get done.  I also make sure I include time for myself.  I use to let everyone know I was coming to town.  This would lead to many people asking me to stop and I would leave feeling like I disappointed people when I couldn’t fit them all in. The last few trips I scheduled and organized the things I needed to and let the other things just happen.

The top priorities on this trip were: see my coach Tracey Greenwood; visit my family; spend time with my friend Brenda as I was unable to do the last few trips; and take time to enjoy the beach and boardwalk.  I have successfully completed all those things.  However, the highlight of my trip was something I was hoping to accomplish, but glad I did not completely plan.  My good friend Laura from college gave birth in February to a special little boy.  It has been quite a struggle for this little guy and his family as he is still in Children’s Hospital.  After catching up with Brenda, I made a surprise visit to Children’s Hospital to visit Laura and meet her little boy. Surprising her made the experience priceless.

Even as Laura is going through a very difficult situation she was telling me she doesn’t know how I do everything I do.  This woman’s life has been turned upside down and she was admiring how I do so much.  The birth of her child has not gone as she would have hoped or imagined, but she is making the best of the situation.  She continues to move forward with great hope and loving every moment with her little boy.

I truly get inspired by others as their stories photo 1allow me to put my life in perspective.  Whatever life challenges I face someone else is dealing with a much more difficult situation.  Many of the challenges I have had led me to some of the best moments in my life.

Face challenges head on and find something positive that can come from the experience.  There is no sense on dwelling on what could have been, when you can look forward to what lies ahead.

I was planning on writing more, but I want to spend some more time with my family before heading to the airport.

Until next time be fit,
Michelle Blank
