The night before the Brutal Alchemy squat challenge, tensions were running high; especially among the women in the contest. Rising NPC bodybuilding star Bonnie Pappas drove five hours from Boston in a really 
short dress and spiked heels and IFBB Pro Nicole Ball arrived in New York with no luggage because Air Canada left it in Canada. Such discomfort might have thrown off mere mortal women, but these two just stood in Dave's living room looking as ravishing as they were ravenous. Good thing Frankie Matassa had a few grand burning a hole in his pocket and was hell bent on spending it at Blackstone Steakhouse. When Dave, Nicole, Bonnie, and I arrived, he was already at the bar with PJ Braun and Aaron Singerman impatiently waiting for us so we could all eat.
The 20 minute trip to Blackstone was dispatched by Dave in 10 because he had the "sport" mode
engaged in his Benz and he has a prodigious right foot. From the back seat I shared with Nicole Ball I could see the speedo hit triple digits every time Dave's size 15 hit the floor - which was often. Inside the restaurant, we met up with Frankie, Aaron and PJ who were all standing at the bar with a drink in each of their hands. A couple of minutes later, Derek Anthony showed up and we were shown to our table.
Blackstone is one of those rare and incredible restaurants that had the bodybuilder friendly idea of integrating sushi and steak, but at a very high level (that, paradoxically, most bodybuilders can't afford). I sat between Bonnie and Nicole, much to Derek's chagrin, and kept them calm and entertained while Dave and Frankie ordered the food. And what a job they did! Anyone looking at the array of exquisite sushi ro
lls, platters of lobster, crab and shrimp and the subsequent oversized steaks might have thought one of us was headed to the electric chair in the morning. The meal was insane!
All through dinner both ladies didn't let on that they were going to wake up in the morning and go toe-to-toe with each other for $1,000 to see which could squat the most reps with 185. That is, until dessert came. Then the fangs came out! Ahhh... but it was all in good fun. Luckily there was plenty to go around leaving both women carb-loaded to the max and ready to rep out tomorrow!!
Before I go, I have to say that sitting between these two diesel hotties I can tell you this contest is going to be as much a test of strength as it's going to be a feast for the eyes. These two give women's bodybuilding a VERY good name!
