Mike Jenkins, 2012 Arnld Strongman Champion and WSM Finalist, Dead at 31.

It is with a saddened heart and deep regreat, I announce the death of my good friend Mike Jenkins, the 2012 Arnold Strongman Classic champion and Worlds Strongest Man multi time finalist. Early reports indicate he passed away in his sleep. Mikes newlywed wife Keri Sue Jenkins announced earlier this morning -

"It's with a heavy, heavy heart and great sadness that I want to let you all know that my best friend, my husband,
my everything, Mike Jenkins, went to heaven this morning. Please keep us all in your prayers. I will update as I know more..."

Mike was truly one of the most giving, polite and upstanding athletes in any sport, let alone strongman. Mike was a volunteer coach and athletic instructor at the Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA. The school is for troubled and disadvantaged children where "Big Mike" was not only repsected for his massive 6' 6", 400lb frame, but for being kind, gentle and understanding.

Mike was also the co-owner of Gamma Crossfit where he brought hard work and fierce determination to every person, regardless of ability or background, to everyone he taught.

Mike will be missed in all of the communities he was a part of. I will miss him for his polite candor, willingness to help grow the sport, but most of all, I will miss him as my friend.

God Speed my brother, God Speed.

"For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?
And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?"
