2012 Arnold Strongman Classic

2012 Arnold Strongman Classic

The Arnold Strongman Classic annually features the world’s top strongman professionals in a two-day competition to determine the world’s strongest man. 2011 champion Brian Shaw of Colorado, who also won the 2011 World's Strongest Man competition, will be back to defend his title. He will face a field that is likely to include 2011 runner-up Mike Jenkins of Baltimore; six-time champion Zydrunas Savickas of Lithuania, who finished third in 2011; and two-time Arnold Strongman Classic champion Derek Poundstone of Waterbury, Conn.

The greatest strongmen in the world will engage in a battle of revenge on several fronts. Shaw finished second to Savickas in the 2010 World's Strongest Man, before prevailing at the 2011 Arnold Strongman Classic and the 2011 WSM. Savickas, who many feel is the greatest strongman of his generation, won six straight ASC titlles before not competing in 2009 and losing to Poundstone in 2010. Poundstone, meanwhile, will be looking to recapture the form that helped him win in 2009 and 2010 before sitting out the 2011 contest due to injury.
The complete field will be named soon.

The 2012 Arnold Strongman Classic will likely feature five events – Apollon's Wheel, Hummer Tire Deadlift, Circus Dumbbell, Manhood Stones and Timber Carry designed to test sheer brute strength.
