IFBB PRO Essence Monet Rising Above and Onto the Pro Stage-Balance

BALANCE.  It is a word that I think a lot of us competASF Weekend 2itors take lightly. We want to be able to have a normal life and be in BEAST MODE 24/7 as a competitor. But that doesn’t seem to always work the way we want it to. One way or another the thing we love the most, that being competing, takes over our lives and we find ourselves unbalanced. I am not saying that everyone is crazy obsessed with this sport. I do, however, feel at times that when our lives are nothing more than a meal plan and a sparkly suit, we lose sight of what really matters in the one life that we are given.

There are SO MANY MORE things out there in this crazy and scary world that we live in that can make us just as happy and filled with JOY. When we prep we find ourselves having an almost out of body experience because we tend to transform into a totally different person. All of sudden, we can’t go out for fun, we must talk about only prep, our statuses are nothing but food, gym check-ins (I am so guilty!), our mood changes almost instantly and we push people away like they have the black plague (if none of this remotely applies to you then no worries).

WHY???? Our “Life Scale” tips towards the competing side of everything and everything gets out of whack until you step off stage. It doesn’t need or have to be that way. WE MUST find a healthy balance of LIFE and this SPORT. You are not going to die if you go out with your family or friends for a small get together during prep. I actually encourage it!!! Go ahead and have a date night with your boyfriend (I do and it keeps us both sane), go see a movie etc etc… You get the drift. In order for us to be successful and push forward in this sport BALANCE is key so that you don’t get burnt out and/or the “After Contest Blues.”

”Work hard, but give time to your love, family and friends. Because, nobody will remember presentations, meetings, degrees & overtime on our death bed.

We are all beautiful and exquisite creatures of this sport, but we all have so much more to offer outside of it. Don’t let it get the best of you and create a monster that doesn’t have any support behind them because you’ve pushed them all away.

We can all be Wonder Woman on the stage and in the gym, but still have a normal everyday life that isn’t always surrounded by meal plans, sparkly suits, heels, hair, show dates and so on…  Try it sometime. I bet you your prep will go smoother, you will be a lot calmer and you will find more joy in the journey rather than it being a process…

Until next time.

Stay Classy,

Keep it 100,

And as always Live, Love & Lift,
