IFBB Figure Pro Kenyatta Jones-Arietta: From 6th to 16th

IFBB Figure Pro Kenyatta Jones-Arietta: From 6th to 16th

In a few short weeks I will be taking the IFBB Pro stage for th23751 574556772558360 1146273152 ne third time since winning my pro card at the NPC Masters Nationals Competition in Pittsburgh last year.  The second experience was a far cry from the first… From 6th to 16th.

I would not be honest if I say I didn’t want to just come home, lick my wounds and find a new way to spend my time.  LOL!  It took a few days to digest it all.  But as you stand with the best of them, so you fall with the best of then.  True strength is obtained from getting up, dusting off, learning from the experience and getting back to the challenge at hand.

My critique from the head judge wasn’t my physique, but the appearance of the stretch marks evident in my abdominal area.  It could have been the lighting or proximity of the judges from the stage compounded with the fact that I just wasn’t tight enough.  I initially looked to blame others and the circumstances for my shortcomings.  And yes, not realizing that competing across country I needed to give my body more time to settle, played a part in how my physique was presented, but the bottom line is had I gone with the best package possible, the settling time may not have mattered as much.  I should have been better conditioned.

You live and hopefully you learn from your experiences.  Since Sac, I have taken the time (starting mentally from ground zero) to figure out what it was that kept me from reaching my prep goals.  How had I allowed myself to get in my own way?  With the assistance (and patience) of my husband, Rudy Arietta, my prep coach, Kim Oddo; my dear friend and life coach, Michele Buenafuente-Phillips and my new friend, Monica Labrioa I have learned A LOT about myself and the responsiveness of my body.

I am looking forward to stepping on stage again.  And yes, there is the possibility that I may still place 16th, but at least this time I will be able to stand tall knowing that I did my very best.  No doubts, no regrets and on to the next adventure!
