Hi Everyone!

I hope you are enjoying this transition into Spring time and taking advantage of the longer days and vitamin D – I sure am! This morning I went for my first run outside since the snow came back in December, and it felt fantastic! It is funny how such an easy to do/no equipment activity can make you feel great all day long, and get you off to a good start J

So after having finished the Arnold Sports Festival I have to say that being on the Ms Figure International stage was one of the most fun & exciting times of my life! Surrounded by 17 lovely ladies from around the world, we were treated like queens and definitely were able to enjoy all the festivities the Arnold has to offer. From the Meet the Pros event (pic attached of Ryall Graber-Vasani and I at our table – Go Canada!!) to the post show party at the Hollywood casino, no detail was left unattended and it was a spectacular experience.  Despite being the most competitive show I’ve ever been in, and not placing as I had ‘hoped’, competing in the Arnold was fabulous and I cannot thank the organizers and promoter, Mr Jim Lorimer, enough for hosting such a top-notch weekend.

This weekend I am off to St Louis to compete in Jack & Ann Titone’s St Louis Pro Figure – this will be my last Spring show and then I will take a couple months off before kicking it up again for the Toronto Pro May 31 & June 1st.  I’ve been very busy since getting back from the Arnold, but I almost find it easier to do shows back to back – definitely working on longer term improvements with my coach Damian Segovia aka Team AFD, but the timing is right so off we go!

I have to say that the Arnold prep was one of the easiest I have ever done – much more intense when it came to the weight training, but my cardio was cut in half (I am not joking!) and I was able to eat more starchy carbs than ever before. It just kills me when I hear about girls doing 2-3 hours of cardio a day – there is no need! With the proper direction and meal plan you can definitely get the results you want without all that cardio.  Plus your body does not rebound the way it does after putting it under such extreme stress and depletion.  Balance is key – remember that folks J

So I am very excited to be embarking on the 2013 season with new partnerships as a brand ambassador/sponsored athlete for Titika Activewear Canada (Canada’s newest fitness apparel darling),  as well as fostering my work as a Team FMG athlete & fitness model, and Nutrabolics sponsored athlete. I am also going to be starting a new column with a fantastic Canadian fitness magazine and am stoked to be working more on print work and reaching out to the masses on all things fitness!

This March I was featuarnold npc sidered on the cover of Indonesian magazine ‘Reps’ including a full article (pic attached), and coming up will be on the cover of another international publication. I have to say that opportunities like this are certainly very exciting and will make for some good stories to share with my grandchildren one day!

Thank you all for taking the time to read my article this month and I hope that your training, contest prep, or whichever goal you have set your sights on is coming to fruition – we are only limited by ourselves, so keeping pushing peeps!

Yours in health,

Natalie
