Amanda's Adventure To Her First Pro Show: 4 Days!!!

varOnly 4 more days until I make my pro debut at the Europa in Dallas Tx, so excited and ready for it to be here! The last couple weeks have been Crazy for me and a bit challenging.  A couple weeks ago I sprained my left elbow and the doctor told me I wouldn't be able to lift, or straighten my elbow  for at least a week, if I wanted it to heal properly.  But of course, knowing me and my stubbornness, Im in the gym the next day doing walking lunges with a 30 pound chain around my neck!! But Hey! I didn't lift or straighten it! It stayed in a sling right where he told me to keep it.

For the first couple days, any upper body workouts were totally out of the question. Comfortably moving my arm or lifting anything was impossible. But, there was no way I could go a whole week NOT working out my upper body. At least not this close to my show anyway. So, about three days into my injury, I started lightly lifting and doing certain workouts that my arm allowed me to do. Most workouts weren't necessarily comfortable, but it was manageable. Good news is, I haven't caused any permanent damage :)

Not being able to use my arm properly,  I was so nervous that I wasn't going to be able to compete, and last minute I would have to back out . All I could think is "Wow perfect timing Amanda!", "Guess I wasn't meant to be." Then I realized that quitting shouldn't be the first option, it should be the last! Sometimes obstacles are thrown at us and we have to work around them and find a way to get the job done. Even if it means suffering a little! I hated hurting my arm, and it still isn't completley healed, but I guess I learned a little something along the long way.

4 more days!! So excited! Check back next week and I'll keep you updated on how the show went and what I did after!
