Hubby and I at OlympiaIFBB Bikini Pro Vanessa’s Fit and Fab Lifestyle #8

What a week! I am pretty sure my husband and I spent way too much time driving, but it was all worth it because we were able to go to Comic-con! Whaaaaaaaa….. We had never been to Comic-Con so my husband and I decided this was the year we should go. Yes, I know what you are all thinking. Haha It was like a nerd-fest, but it was soooomuch fun.

Hey Peeps! As I write this today I am about 4 weeks out from the Dallas Europa show. I am not going to lie, this prep hasn’t been any easier than the last ones previous, but sometimes you just got to put the big girl panties/thong (whichever you like) on and just go. But I am not going to sit here and complain about. Why you ask??? Because it won’t get me anywhere but it will give someone a headache

Canuck Corner Installment #9

Hi Everyone!

Well summer is in full swing and with Canada and the US facing lots of hot weather lately, it can be hard to get into the gym and get motivated! This past weekend I found some new motivation after placing 2nd at the IFBB Wings of Strength Chicago Pro-Am Extravaganza – my best placing as an IFBB Figure Pro to date! To say that I was/am excited is an understatement as this placing now bumps me into 2nd overall in the Figure Olympia point qualification standings, so dependent on the movement with other competitors, and my own plans for one last show before the Olympia , I could be competing in Las Vegas again in 2012!! ;)

TNT (Trish (Wood)- n- training): The Offseason

off seasonTNT (Trish (Wood)- n- training): The Offseason

Ok, I'm putting it out there: current weight- 112 lbs.

Off- season is a tricky time for most competitors. For many it's a time to eat whatever they want and put on the "fluffy coat" until next season when you try and strip it all off again. But for me, I'm thinking of it as a time to grow and change my focus a little bit from getting on stage to being a good wife, step-mom, and business owner.

This week has been a little crazy with the new business opening, learning QuickBooks (what ever happened to the old fashion Debit and Credit journal entries??), and on top of that I hurt my back. Sheesh!!! What is going on around here? I didn’t even hurt myself in the gym, I just woke up one morning and my back was killing me. Well at least I was able to soak in the bath with some Epsom salt. I even stopped by Lush in Santa Barbara to pick up some awesome smelling Bubble bars and bath bombs. That store sells really good smelling products. I love that store, but sometimes you walk in and you feel bombarded my aromas. Anyway, I was able to get 4 different products before I was at smell overload and had to get out of the store.

TNT (Trish (Wood)- n- training) : Putting ON Size

off seasonTNT (Trish (Wood)- n- training) : Putting ON Size

I'm well into my muscle gaining plan and for some reason my body doesn't seem to be handling it as well as I'd hoped it would. I'm getting stronger and lifting heavier but my body just seems to hurt all over. I have aches and pains in places I didn't even know could hurt! So I've started taking some joint supplements and stretching really good before workouts with the hopes that it'll help my body adjust to this new training regime. Not only are my workouts physically challenging, they've become mentally challenging as I feel that my body is fighting me on every rep. Maybe it's over-training, maybe my body's just confused with all the hormones I seem to have flying around, or maybe I'm just being a wimp! Whatever the issue is, it's really throwing a wrench into my plans!

Fit, Fun and 21! Journal 2: Having Your Cake, and Eating Some Too

During my prep for Jr. Nationals, just 12 days before I was hitting the stage, I turned 21 years old.  Needless to say I definitely traded dinner, bars, and ripping shots, for leg day, cardio, and an egg white soufflé.  Many of the people I know were dumbfounded by this decision and couldn’t understand why I couldn’t let go for “just one day.”  But as many of us are, we’re committed to what we do and we stick to it!  BUT I want to focus right now on knowing when you can relax a bit and find a balance for yourself.
