Meet National Level MP Competitor Justin Klein

We areath justin klein here with Top 5 Finisher at the National's Justin Klein.  Congrats on a great showing in Miami!  What made you decide to compete in the Men’s Physique Division?

My trainer suggested that it would be a great division for me to begin to compete in, since I had never competed before and the scene was completely new to me. It would also help make a name for myself and build my fitness and modeling career.

Can you tell us a little about the Competition you just competed in?
I just competed in one of the largest NPC National competitions in Miami Beach, Florida. With over 940 total competitors, over 150 competitors in Men’s Physique and over 60 competitors in Men’s Physique C Division. It was full of top competitors from around the nation with a chance to earn IFBB Pro Cards.

How did you feel after pre-judging?
I was in the first call outs after pre-judging and I really couldn’t believe it. I was excited, ecstatic, and didn’t know what to think, but I knew I had to hold my physique through the night and the next day until we got back on stage for finals. This was my first two-day competition so I was worried that I may spill over or get back up on stage and not look like how I did during pre-judging.

How did you feel about the final results of the show?
This show had so many competitors with amazing physiques and in top condition; it had to be a difficult decision for the judges. I was not expecting the final results. I had entered this competition for experience at the national level to see how I measured up to “the big guys.”  After another show, I had judges and others suggest to me that I should go big or go home.  So I took their advice and jumped at the opportunity.

What are your thoughts on the Men's Physique Division and what it may be able to do for your career?
I believe the Men’s Physique Division is a great division to bring in more athletes who have great physiques, but aren’t looking to build the amount muscle necessary as a bodybuilder. Right now I see a lot of former bodybuilders competing in the Physique division, but in the future many of the Physique guys may choose to go into bodybuilding. I think the new division will reach a lot more participants and fans as it continues to grow year after year. I think the Men’s Physique Division will be able to help my career in personal training by showing that I take what I do seriously and that I am living the lifestyle that I am teaching while I am continuing to learn and grow as an individual. It also allows me to meet more people in the industry while giving me opportunities to travel and satisfy my competitive nature. It may also open up more fitness and modeling opportunities in the future.

Seeing the changes in my body and body composition when I started proper training techniques and training splits and the endless possibilities of how I can push and transform my body.

Who influences/influenced your training?
I try to find inspiration in everyone and everything. The person who has influenced me the most is the first trainer I had who gave me workouts and a proper diet when I completed a transformation process with Six Star Pro Nutrition last year. He has been so helpful and full of knowledge helping me along the way while dealing with my endless questions of how and why things are put together. Also all the help I have received from other competitors who have been competing a lot longer than I have and who have achieved similar goals to what I want to achieve.

What keeps you on track towards reaching your goals?
Continuing to see improvements in my physique and the adrenaline rush of being on stage at competitions. I also like getting to meet all the new people I am surrounded by at every competition whether regional or national, I have met a lot of new friends at competitions. Being a personal trainer, it’s also great to be able to show and educate new and potential clients that giving up is never an option and that you have the control to decide who you want to be and how you reach your dreams and goals.

Interesting fact or something you would like our readers to know about you:
I had actually been an athlete all my life, but never considered the types of food I put in my body really had an effect on my performance and everyday life. It wasn’t until I stopped running when I graduated from my undergraduate degree that I realized eating whatever I want wasn’t going to work for me and was having a negative effect on my whole life until I was properly educated about exercise and nutrition. Now I want to take what I learned and educate others to help them live life to their highest potential.
