Meet New IFBB MP PRO Frankly Shredded

We are here with Frankly Shredded…tFS_BigJim_Vegashat’s right Frankly Shredded. Congrats on a great showing! What made you decide to compete in the Men’s Physique Division?

Thanks Ian, means a lot, I worked extremely hard for the showing I displayed. My decision to compete in the Men’s Physique Division actually started with one of my best friends and training buddy, Steven Aros, bringing this new division and the NPC Fresno Classic to my attention back in March. After giving it some thought I initially started by adjusting my training and it wasn’t until about 3 weeks out from the Classic did I fully commit to this show. About 2 weeks out I was introduced to my current trainer/coach Aron Fisher. Steven and I met up with him and the three of us weren’t really sure what the judges would exactly be looking for in this all new division. Aron is very experienced in competition prep, training, diet, and everything that goes with it. Even from that initial meeting we learned so much. We kept in contact and went into the contest with a lot more confidence! We went in as first time competitors and left with trophies in our hands! Steven took second in his class and I took first in mine plus the overall! That’s when I realized this was something worth pursuing; a new passion and motivation! I immediately and officially started training with Aron in preparation for the NPC San Jose National Qualifier this past July where I ended up getting my second class win and another overall win! After these back-to-back victories we took it to Vegas!

Can you tell us a little about the Competition you just competed in?

The NPC USA Championships was an incredible experience and something I will never forget! From arriving at the initial height-checks/athlete meeting I knew right away this competition would be a whole other “animal”. I can tell you at first role call I already started drawing attention with my name and that’s one of the many things I like about this division is being able to be different and show a little personality; keeping it fun and interesting. This was the most physique competitors I’ve seen at a competition and overall the camaraderie between us competitors was very friendly and helpful. This was my first year at the USA’s and what a year; a record breaking number of competitors, the level of competition, and the results!

How did you feel after pre-judging?FS_Vegas_Sun

After pre-judging we felt pretty confident I was somewhere in hopefully the top four! I was including in the first call-outs and placed towards the center. As we know this is a nice place to be after pre-judging but you never know and I knew I had some stiff competition.

How did you feel about the final results of the show?

The class win was huge aka turning Pro and left me with a feeling of ecstasy, which to this day hits me in waves! I was happy not only for myself but also for all the people involved in this journey!

What are your thoughts on the Men's Physique Division and what it may be able to do for your career?
The sport of Body Building is evolving like its competitors! I feel like the Men’s Physique Division is well on its way to being huge. I think this division could not have come at a better time especially for my entry into this sport. As its effect on my career as personal trainer I feel it can be nothing but positive for either gaining clients as they want to train with an IFBB Pro and/or look to me and the division as inspiration to train! As a Pro in this division I think it should be interesting to watch the companies in the industry reactions to see if and who they will pick up to rep their product as most of them do not have Men’s Physique Pros on their teams.
