Ian Lauer of Men’s Physique: Thanks so much for your time…I know you’re a busy man so I’ll get right to the questions everyone wants to know. What are you initial thoughts on the new Men’s Physique Division?

Isaac Hinds: I think this new division is great…so long as judges reward physiques that are different from the bodybuilding look. I would like to see more of the fitness model look. Each show will be different especially early on and it’s important to note that who shows up is also going to be important.

Lauer: So do you feel there is a “distinct look” that the judges are seeking out?

Hinds: Not at the moment. Like bikini division when it started it will take some time to sort itself out. A clear distinction for posing and look will most likely be established by May 21st at JR USA especially because pro cards are at stake there.

Lauer: Do you think we will start to really see a precedence set in before May 21st?

Hinds: The show this weekend at the 2011 Muscle Contest in Culver City, CA will be huge and good indicator of what we are looking for in the future. Parameters will begin to become more solid this weekend.

Lauer: With the look being different than that of Bodybuilding what was your take on the Tanning practices at the show in Utah?

Hinds: Competitors need a tan because the bright lights on stage will wash you out. But a bodybuilder tan with multiple coats slathered on is too much. I would recommend darker than a photo shoot look but not as extreme at traditional bodybuilding. Also watch excess oil.

Lauer: Any tips for the competitors?

Hinds: Confidence is key. How you present yourself on stage is paramount. A little swagger can go a long way.

Lauer: What do you feel this division does that may have been lacking in the past?

Hinds: Men’s Physique opens the doors to guys that were not into going to the extremes of standard bodybuilding. Men’s Physique is a very marketable look. A lot of these guys that do well will get great exposure, sponsorships and covers of magazines.

Lauer: Any final thoughts?

Hinds: This is really exciting from a marketing standpoint seeing all these great potential spokespeople and for the competitors it is an excellent opportunity.

Lauer: Thanks for your time. We look forward to seeing you at the next competition!
