ASM Athlete Countdown: Mike Caruso and Marshall White

Mike Caruso, PhD, Detroit, Michigan. Some guys are smart, you know, book smart. Some guys are strong, you know, cock strong.  Some guys just show up and get work done, you know, like taking the runner up spot at last years Americas Strongest Man! Mike Caruso embraces all of those traits. Quiet and humble but thick as a brick and with no real chink in his competitive armor. Mike earned his PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology and is currently investigating insulin signaling in Type II Diabetics. He is also co-owner of what has to be the stickiest substance on the face of the earth, Spider-Tac. This product is essential in moving and loading big stones in a big hurry. Mike used that in part of his massively convincing runner up spot last year. Mike is a massive overhead presser and holds his own across the board of most of the events lined up for next weekend.

Marshall “The Necromancer” White, Houston, Texas. There are some big men in strongman no doubt, but none of them are as big in persona as the giant red head from Texas. The Mortician turned strongman communicates with more than just the dead, he communicates and summons the powers that have made him an incredibly unpredictable strength machine. As a former Bros V Pros champion, this pro strongman entertains as much as he impresses when on the platform or dais. Marshall is one of a handful of guys who hangs and bangs across the board and is always in the nix and a threat in any competition. He has traveled abroad and competed in Worlds Strongest Man and has represented the U.S. in strength competitions around the world. Marshall’s real strength lies in technique and the technical understanding of every lift he attempts.
