Emillie-Jean Bisgrove-Cole Q&A | Emillie's rise to the top of Australian AM Figure!

Emillie Jean Bisgrove Cole Xavier of Rx Muscle Australia had the chance to talk with one of Australia's fastest rising stars in the figure category within Australia from never competing one year to taking out an Australian title the next! Read on below for to check out her Q&A with Rx Muscle Australia.

Q: Emillie you've been coming up through the amateur ranks, this year it appeared you added some quality muscle to your physique and took out some big titles, did you think you were going to do as well as you did this year?

A: Thanks Xavier, I've definitely had a fantastic start to the year! Taking out the Amateur Figure open category at FitX was such an amazing feeling. After I won I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't in a dream haha. I remember watching Fitx 2012 (I'd never competed before) and telling my man I wanted to be on the Fitx stage in 2013... FitX was my 3rd IFBB show so never in a millions years did I imagine I could ever win! And then to win again at the Australian Championships 2 weeks after was another dream come true for me! There were some amazing athletes in both these comps and I never thought I could even come close!

fitx1Q: You now have qualified to compete in the Pro Qualifier in 2014 at FitX, will you be doing the Pro Q?

A: Yes, I will definitely be doing that and the Amateur Arnold's in 2014. I know I'm still young and compared to the other girls who are doing PRO Q I definitely feel as though I have the least experience but I think I would be silly not to take up this opportunity and at least give it a go. I'm so excited I just want to start prepping for it already!

fitx2Q: What kind of contest diet do you follow and can you give us an outline of which nutrition plan you follow?

A: When it comes to my nutrition leading up to a show my body responds really well to fats and proteins, I've worked with my coach Luke McNally since I started competing (May, 2012) so we both (him especially) know what my body likes and dislikes. I guess you could say my diet follows similarities of a Paleo diet and most of the time for me it is Keto as well, however we cycle carbs in if it’s necessary and if I'm on track and this generally goes in around my training times (pre or post). I eat up to 6 meals a day of lean meats, green vegies and mix up my meals with either complex carbs or good fats. We prefer to get my nutrients from actual foods rather than supplements alone so I don't use protein shakes as a replacement I only use them for post workout nutrition. I have a refeed day every five days leading up to a show that consists of fruit, lots of rice and sweet potato and if I feel like it I’ll have something really tasty like a burger or lots of peanut butter Sometimes I feel as though I'm not normal though, I seem to really respond well to eating fats and protein, my energy and strength increases leading up to a show.

fitx4Q: Who do you aspire to be/look like, or admire?

A: I don't aspire to be like anyone or look like anyone I can only be myself and try my best not to compare myself to other (although it can be hard to do with so many amazing athletes out there) but I definitely admire a few people in the industry and physiques like Candice keen, Jessie Hilgenberg, Amanda Doherty, Jodie Parker and Erin Stern! I think all these ladies present a full package on and off stage and it’s very motivating seeing photos of them taking on the competing world!

Q: What's something that people might not know about you?

A: I wear coloured socks to match my shoes and my clothing when I workout - call it OCD but I just hate wearing boring white socks and everything has to match! haha

Q: Is there anyone you'd like to thank or send a shout out too?

A: Yes definitely, my man of course, my coach Luke McNally, sponsors Mass/Miss Nutrition, NDA Distribution, Leeshyloo, Activewear, comptan.com, IFBB Australia.. Everyone who follows and supports my journey and all the Oxygen Magazine crew for always looking after me. Nothing I've achieve so far has be done alone so I always have so many people to thank for making this journey so rewarding Oh and a massive thank you to You, Xavier and RX Muscle for taking the time out to ask me a few questions and give me the opportunity to share my experience.
