Sam Pearce Q&A ahead of 2013 WFF Universe

Sam Pearce interview holly heard photography

Sam Pearce is one of, what is now, many up & coming bodybuilders in Australia, that shows great promise for the future. Ahead of the WFF Universe he had the time to catch up with Rx Muscle Australia for a chat.

Rx: Sam thanks for talking to Rx Muscle Australia, it seems like all of a sudden there is a group of young guys coming up through the ranks, you're one of these guys at only 21 years old. Why do you think there is another surge of good young bodybuilders coming through in Australia?

Sam PearceSam: Thanks for having me on Rx. I listen to your radio show (Aussie Muscle Radio) all the time, and love the updates on all the shows. You are definitely right there, the surge and quality of upcoming bodybuilders is huge! To be honest I think it's so cool to be a part of it. It's really exciting to stand out now as a young gun, and to be on top, you really have to the best of the best. I think the quality increasing is due to the sport growing in popularity and being accepted more by the public. It's so great to see, being a competitive that you love so much, is getting bigger and better by the day!

Rx: When and how did you get into training and the bodybuilding scene?

Sam: I was the typical teenager playing rugby league and union. Because I played up a age level I was always trying to catch up in size, so I took a year off footy and got approached to compete at the age of 18.. I haven't looked back!

Rx: What are your short term & long term goals?

Sam Pearce 2Sam: My goal is to complete my civil engineering degree at uni, it's something I've always been good at and it's a safe option to fall back on. My short term goals and long term goals are to pursuit bodybuilding and see where it can take me. I never thought bodybuilding would fly me overseas to compete internationally, so for me I'm riding the wave and loving every bit of it. Every bodybuilder wants to get on the Olympia stage one day, and that is a goal for me 110%. I've always loved to push the limits and see where I can go with the things I love doing, and pursuing bodybuilding with a world wide degree is one of them.. I can't see anything to stop me achieving my goals.

Rx: You'll competing at the WFF Universe titles in the Junior class on the 15th of June in Greece, what are your goals for this show?

Sam Pearce 3Sam: Every show I compete in I want to win. I'm very competitive and think it is a waste of time if you come into a show aiming for a top 5 after all the hard work to get there. This is a unexpected but very exciting experience and it keeps me focused thinking that way. For me this show is a taste tester for the international side of bodybuilding, and like every show I plan to learn a lot and grow from the experience

Rx: Are you more excited or nervous to competing internationally with all the challenges of getting your food and the language barrier?

Sam: I'm excited, I've never been so excited for something in my life. Again this is giving me a glimpse and taste of life as a bodybuilder, and makes me want it more and more and more! I'm a very organised person, I feel everything food wise, prep wise and mentally I'm ready for this trip, but travelling always has unexpected surprises, so I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing and not stress because there is nothing I can do now but be patient and ride into the Mr.Universe.
