JaxProeveExhale. I made it through a fourth pro show and a few aggressive work deadlines, and now I am finally able to reconnect with my thoughts and with you. I hated not being able to reflect on the Jacksonville Pro show before today, but a little time away provided good perspective. The quick summary of the experience is this: I felt great, did my thing, thought that I could win, didn’t win, earned third place (woohoo!), celebrated four top three placings with friends, woke up bloated (I always love the post-show water retention) and started considered how I can improve for the “O.” My more in-depth thoughts on the show are as follows:

First, I am so glad that I competed in the Jacksonville Pro. I had fun and embraced every minute of the experience. The venue was beautiful, and all the athletes were made to feel very special (Thank you Dexter and Gale!). I got to know many athletes whom I admire, and I enjoyed watching women whom I adore earn top placings in Figure and Bikini.

In terms of my “package,”  I was thrilled with how I looked and performed. The judges who provided feedback had all positive and encouraging things to say.  That said, despite the positive feedback, the bottom line is that I have not yet been able to capture the top spot.  Thus, in preparation for the Olympia, I cannot be complacent and head into the show with the exact same “Jaime.” I need to determine where there are opportunities to improve my physique, look and presentation and make wise adjustments. I do not believe in abandoning my identity as an athlete; rather, just amplifying who I am.

JaxProfrontThe white elephant in the room is whether not having a show win heading into the Olympia indicates that I will not legitimately be a contender in this show.  While it is a luxury to have a title, as a show win indicates that an athlete has “it”  and was considered the “best” on one particular day, I don’t believe it is essential.  My track record of all top three finishes indicates that I am able to consistently “bring it,” and the results of this season show that anything can happen on “any given Friday (or Saturday).”  If I do my homework and make some valuable changes, I can be in the mix at the Bikini Olympia. I believe that. Anyone heading to the Olympia should believe that for herself/himself. Positive belief and aggressive goals pushes you further and sets you on a path to your best.

So….my Olympia planning is beginning now. However, I will not be aggressively in prep mode until next week. This week, I am going to vacation with my hubby and some friends to the Keys. YES!!!! We are heading to Islamorada where we will be fishing, lobstering and snorkeling. I intend to come back sun-kissed and fired up to start prep.

I’ll catch up with you next week, my friends. Until then, enjoy your journey!
