Through the relatively short life span of NPC Bikini, spectators and fans alike have watched the sport explode in competitive numbers and in general interest. With each passing show the new Division is growing in support from not only the NPC fan base but also from the general public. When first introduced the general consensus among athletes and fans alike was that the Bikini Division would only attract women in their late teens and twenties. After all, a woman in her thirties could not possibly be able to stand toe to toe with a young lassie in a Division called Bikini.
Contrary to these predisposed opinions the Bikini Division not only transcended the thirty-year-old barrier but also the forty-year-old barrier as well. Women like IFBB Bikini Pro Dr. Khanh Nyugen (42) & IFBB Bikini Pro Patricia Valenti (48) are living examples that not only can women over thirty or forty go toe to toe with twenty year olds, they can win.
Meet Rising NPC Bikini star Angela Leong from Portland Oregon, Angela at the age of 38 has already made a mark on the National NPC stage placing 2nd at the 2009 Jr. Nationals, won the 2010 NPC Oregon State Bikini Championships and recently won the Tall Class at the 2010 NPC Master Nationals.

Vacation is over, and my Olympia prep is ON! Thank goodness for the week respite, because I really, really needed it. Even though the Olympia was relatively close, I allowed my body and mind a little rest from competition prep. After enjoying some fishing, snorkeling and key lime pie in the Keys, I returned to Orlando with a healed body and mind ready to take on another four hard weeks of preparation.
The first few days back in prep mode were relatively easy, as I really missed the gym and the competition prep regimen. It’s funny how you can be in prep mode for so long that you start to feel like you just can’t wait for a break; then, you get a break and you can’t wait to get back on “plan.” Anyway, as my first week back concluded, I could start to feel some of the chronic aches and pains returning—glutes, knees and hips—and exhaustion resurfacing. Ugh. My vacation was wearing off.

In the very short lifespan of NPC Bikini, one would have to say that the NFL has been very good to the Division. Case in point, IFBB Pro Bikini Athlete Jessica Jessie was a former Washington Redskins Cheerleader and IFBB Pro Bikini Athlete Janet Harding cheered for over ten years for the Philadelphia Eagles.
What makes the former NFL Cheerleaders such a success on the NPC stage is a combination of factors. First, the women are beautiful and no stranger to competition when you consider thousands audition for a spot on a squad. They also already have successfully learned how to maintain their physical fitness level through nutrition and exercise and they have diligently practiced their presentation skills. These women have no stage fright, know how to look their best and they exude “FUN”. With these tools already in place, sculpting their bodies and presentation skills to meet the requirement of the NPC Bikini Division is second nature to them.
Meet NPC Bikini Athlete Jennifer Andrews. Jennifer, who resides in the State of Kentucky, is a former Cincinnati Bengal Cheerleader who has now turned her attention to the NPC Bikini Division in quest of her IFBB Pro Card.
