Chrissy's Transformation Challenge: Onward to the Arnold 2013
Her life is no different than most of ours. Chrissy Clausen is a mo
m to two young boys and a wife. She is a female business owner in a male dominated industry, and now she can add professional figure competitor to her list of accomplishments! She is no ordinary competitor. This ambitious lady has managed to transform from an unfit mom to ripped figure competitor. No small accomplishment for this small 4-foot-11 ball of fire who once weighed more than 200 pounds!
Chrissy was always fit until her first pregnancy. The day her first son was born, she weighed more than 200 pounds. 21 months later she had her second son and weighed in at 185 pounds. After putting so much weight onto such a tiny frame, Chrissy decided enough was enough. A fire was lit and she bough a pair of running shoes and started running! She ran for about a year and half; running 5Ks and a half marathon. While ecstatic with her accomplishments, this dynamo wanted more! While she had lost a lot of weight, she still was not satisfied with the image staring back in the mirror. She wanted her bikini body back again.
She began to do research and absorbed as much information about bodybuilding as she could. Her research led her to the gym where she began to work with a personal trainer. When her trainer suggested she think about entering into a local bikini or figure competition, she laughed it off. But, Chrissy being as ambitious as she is, did not completely shrug the notion off. Once again Chrissy headed back to her research. She began to look at transformation stories. She saw inspiring woman and read about their journeys and the obstacles they overcame on their way to the stage. She knew if they could do it, she certainly could!
She spoke with a friend who had competed and her friend suggested she find a coach to help her navigate through all the training, nutrition, planning, and fine tuning that goes into prepping for a show. Again, Chrissy went back to researching, looking at different local coaches to find her match. She found TEAM F.A.B. and her new coaches Sandy Wiedmeyer and Staci Boyer. The hard but satisfying work started there.
Chrissy began her prescribed workouts, started on her nutrition program, practiced posing, and planned for all the little details that goes into contest prep.
After weeks of training and prepping, Chrissy stepped on stage a transformed women. She went from an overweight new mom, to a runner, to a fit and buff figure competitor. At her very first show, 2012 ABA Natural Illinois Bodybuilding, Fitness, and Figure Championships; Chrissy snagged a well deserved first place and overall finish in Masters 35 and over.
Chrissy was bit by 
the competition bug and stepped on stage at her second show, NPC Foxcities Showdown. Here she took second in open, which qualified her for nationals and The Arnold Classic in 2013. At her third show of her first season, NGA Heart of America, she took a third place finish in a competitive open class.
In her latest competition, NGA American Natural Championships, Chrissy won that coveted pro card! Hard work pays off!!
Chrissy now has her sights set on gracing the coveted Arnold Amateur stage!
She has also earned what so many athletes dream of, she is proudly a Pride Nutrition Athlete. She now represents the product who helped her to get where she is today!
While there were days that she wanted to quit, days that she thought being fat would just be easier, this accomplished lady has no regrets. She shed over 100 pounds to get to the stage, and is setting a healthy example for her boys; very important for her considering she lost her mom when she was only 46 years old. She was overweight and did not lead a healthy lifestyle. Chrissy has resolved not to follow in her footsteps. Instead she is forging her own path, which will take her to The Arnold Classic 2013, a very prestigious honor she could not have thought possible even a year ago!
