What do you feel is the WORST part of contest prep? I feel that the worst part of contest prep is how time consuming it can be. Between lifting, cardio, posing practice, meal prep, school, and work, there isn’t much time for anything else.

Would you please tell us a little about your workout schedule? Pre-contest,I weight train 6-7 times a week, doing 10-15 reps for most exercises. I do cardio 7 times a week for 30-45 minutes. I love adding plyometrics or active rests in my workout to get my heart rate up and burn more calories.

If you had to lose one of your 5 senses, which one would you prefer to lose and why? If I had to lose one of my five senses,I would lose my sense of taste. If I couldn’t taste the food I ate, dieting would be a lot easier. I would never crave anything unhealthy because I wouldn’t be able to taste it.

If you could change one things about this sport what would it be? If I could change one thing about this sport,it would be politics. I believe that who ever looks the best should win, no matter who their trainer is or if it’s their first show or not. The judging should be based on who has the best physique.

If you had a time capsule what would you put inside it and why? Considering my lifestyle and that obesity has reached epidemic proportions, I would probably put a copy of a healthy diet plan and photos. As technology advances, physical jobs are becoming less inter33common and people don’t go outdoors as much. A healthy diet plan could  educate people in the future about how to eat healthy.I would use photos to show the evolution of bodybuilding from the very beginning with Arnold and Joe Weider (Father of bodybuilding) up to present day pro bodybuilders like my favorite Jay Cutler, as well as Phil Heath,Kai Greene and others. Hopefully whoever opened the time capsule would be inspired to pursue a healthy lifestyle.

What is your favorite vacation spot? My favorite vacation spot is Orlando,Florida. I go to Orlando every year with my family.

What advice do you have for women who would like to get involved in and compete in the sport of bodybuilding?

My advice for women who would like to get involved and compete in the sport of bodybuilding is to compete because it’s your passion, not because your friend wants you to compete or you think you’ll win money, etc.Compete for YOU.Attend a few shows, talk to competitors, learn more about the sport, make sure it is something you want to do and are ready to fully commit to. Do not compare yourself to others. Everyone pro was once an amateur. So set realistic goals and focus on yourself and your own progress. Also, I highly advise getting a trainer or coach. There is a lot more that goes into contest prep and competing than you probably think! Most importantly, remember to have fun!!

What is a day-in-the-life of Maddie Lombardo like?

Well I’m now a senior in high school so everyday I go to school, then I go to the gym and train,go to work,do my homework, and prep my meals for the next day. Balancing school and work on top of contest prep is not always easy!

Favorite Motivatinter4ional Quote: “Train like you’re in second but go on stage like you’re in first.”

“Pain is weakness leaving the body.”

“Suffer the pain of discipline or suffer the pain of regret.”

In closing, Who would you like to give a shout out to? I would like to give a shout out to my awesome trainer Jack Osborne , My mom,my photographer MyContestPix.com ,and all my friends at The Training Center Gym.
