In your opinion, how important is motivation and confidence when aiming to accomplish a goal?

We all need a little motivation from time to time! Whether it's from a magazine, friends, family or on Instagram! I know for myself where there are days I just don't feel like working out. I'll pull out my phone, go on Instagram and go on to Nicole Wilkins, Candice Keene, Larissa Reis, Ashley Horner and a few other pages of women who I look up to tremendously. That usually helps me get into an improved mindset! Confidence to some degree is necessary. You have to be confident enough to get up on stage in a small posing suit to be judged on how you look, but being overly confident, arrogant or cocky isn't the best way to accomplish any goal. Tips for any athlete would be: stay humble, be thankful, never stop learning, and always smile and enjoy the process of improving!

In your eyes, what combination oimage(2)f hard work and natural ability is needed to reach the top?

Smart work is more important than hard work, but you must exceed your current limitations and seek to achieve new thresholds which means you have to work hard. We at Physique Doctor, always preach to our athletes to identify an efficient path and then put their hard work and commitment into action. All the natural ability in the world, if not optimized by passion and commitment to excellence, would not be enough to achieve success in this sport.

What are some motivational strategies that have or currently work for you?
Every night in bed, I envision my future. What I want, how I can make it happen and what i'm going to do to get there. I mentally make it a reality before it is achieved. This goes for everything in my life, inside and out. I find the more balanced my life is outside of bodybuilding, the more fun I have training, eating, and being on point with my program.
In a nut shell, fitness and bodybuilding is my passion! And I'm always learning. Everyday.

Give me some examples from your life where confidence has helped you to achieve?
The most important place where I use confidence is in my coaching of others. I've been down the road they are struggling on, I have dealt with their challenges, and I've come out on top not only successful, but as an improved person. I am confident about that and I love passing on my knowledge and helping people achieve their goals. That brings me more satisfaction than anything else in this sport.

What do you find the most challenging about competing?
If you met my iimagen-laws you would understand! My mother-in-law is Greek and she prepares delicious food. I love baking and cooking as well but hers is out of this world! So during the end of my contest preps, I most definitely miss her food!
Another challenge is myself. Me against me. It's a head game up in there. Its like a Six Flags roller coaster. I'm constantly trying to stay confident and be happy with where I am at while trusting in the process, but I often linger down a path of self doubt. Some days, the failure side takes over. But what I've learned along the way is that I need to have fun and project a positive view of myself and what I am doing. I know I am not alone in feeling this way. Let's be honest, many of us women are our own worst critics and bodybuilders in general are always seeking to pinpoint ways to improve. So, the best mindset for me and probably many others is to accept ourselves in the moment and know that perfection is found in the act of striving for it while never achieving it.

What are your top 5 key strategies for success?
1. Be realistic about your short term goals
2. Be optimistic about achieving it
3) Be persistent and never give up!
4) Set a goal, say it aloud, write it down, and own it.

5) Help others find success

What is your favorite protein powder? Why do you like it?
I like protein powders that mix well with water and have a hearty taste and texture.
Throughout my training phases, I tend to rotate protein powders since I don't have any major intolerances, I mostly use Whey proteins. In Canada, my preference is for PVL Iso-Gold. If anyone from PVL reads this, please know I was really let down after winning my pro card because I forgot the PVL gift bag I received, back stage, and they don't sell it in the US.

Since I have been spending a lot of time in IMG 0869 copythe US with my family, I have been using Gaspari Isofusion and Cellucor Cor-Performance Whey. Both are isolate protein powders that have great taste and texture.

In closing, Who would you like to give a shout out to?
First and foremost I want to say thank you to my husband and coach, Evan Lagace who with me, touches many people through our work at Physique Doctor. He deserve an award and medal! This man is the most humble, loving, thoughtful, giving, kindest and most knowledgable person I know. I also want to say thank you to my teammates on TeamPD for being my number one fans, supporters, and most importantly, friends. Of course there's my family and in-laws who's unconditional love and support has help me in so many ways. Also, huge thanks to Joan MacDonald from Daydreams Fitness Wear for helping me dazzle and shine on stage with her magnificent suits. Last but not least, the OPA and CBBF for giving me the opportunity to climb the ranks up to the IFBB. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all!
