Make Time For Social Media

YouSocial Media Icons must be living under a rock somewhere if you have yet to jump on the social media bandwagon.   Thankfully, the majority of you are already relatively active within the world of social media.  Perhaps you have slacked off on certain platforms due to a lack of time or boredom, but bear in mind that electronic media avenues provide an easy means by which you can reach a huge target audience, especially if a post goes viral.

It may be time-consuming to commit to regular posts on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram, but if you have a following and you want it to grow, you need to get yourself out there on as many platforms as possible.  And you need to do it now, because electronic media platforms are becoming the primary means by which personalities and businesses are advertising and promoting their products and services.

Another great thing about engaging in social media is that you will increase your following, which is now an essential marker by which supplement companies, magazines and other fitness related businesses assess an athlete’s marketability.  A common question now is, “How many followers do you have on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram?”  So, if your numbers are low, you may get passed up for an athlete who has a bigger following.  Sad but true.

If you have an edge that sets you apart, make sure to explore that, and make your posts as eye-catching and interesting as possible.  You need to be clever these days!  I know that adding hashtags can also be a pain, but brands that use hashtags have a greater reach than those that do not.  It is especially important to use hashtags in advertising and promotion.  If you are offering a service or trying to sell a product, you might consider using “#coupon”, “#discount”, or “#deal”.  You can also use hashtags on relevant trending topics to catch the eye of people who are interested in what you have to offer.

Once you get into the rhythm of posting on social media platforms, it shouldn’t take up too much of your time each day.  Think of it as building a house brick-by-brick, laying the foundation for your brand.  It is well worth it.
