Meet MP Competitor Mike Montes

With488209 458516980836843 753946783 n us today is Mike Montes after making the switch from Bodybuilding to Physique.  Congrats on a great showing!  What made you decide to compete in the Men’s Physique Division?
Thanks D! In the past I have always competed in bodybuilding, but with this new up and coming class I decided to give it a try.

Can you tell us a little about the show in which you just competed?
The competition I just competed in was the 2012 Armbrust Pro Gym Warrior Classic. It’s put on by Michael Alexander and Carol Semple in Loveland Colorado. In my opinion it is the best show put on in the entire state. Plus it always brings some of the top competitors from across the state and surrounding areas!

How did you feel after pre-judging?
After pre-judging I felt great, I got placed center stage in the teen class, I got 2nd call outs in the novice and 3rd call outs in the open. But I’m not going to lie I was still a little nervous on how everything was going to play out because this show was STACKED!!

How did you feel about the final results of the show?
I couldn’t have been happier with the final results of the show. I took 1st in the teen class and placed 5th in the novice. It just felt great knowing that at 19 years old I could be competitive against people who were a lot older then me! It gave me great motivation and drive to bring a bigger and leaner physique to the stage next time I compete!

What are your thoughts on the Men's Physique Division and what it may be able to do for your career?
I love the Men’s physique Division it gives an opportunity to those who didn’t have the bodybuilder build to advance in the sport! Hopefully this will help advance my career in this new division and with a few solid years of training I hope to eventually be able to compete at a national level but not only compete but be a contender!
