What inspired you to start training? I was infatuated with professional wrestling as a child. My grandmother bought me an issue of Flex Magazine by mistake (instead of Pro Wrestling Illustrated). I was so impressed with the pictures of Lee Haney and Arnold Schwarzenegger. I then saw Pumping Iron on tv and several years later I started lifting for high school wrestling.

Did you play sports as a kid? Yes, I played hockey, bowling, baseball, Tae Kwon Do, and wrestling.

Do you play any sports now? I bowl occasionally.

When is your next show? Undecided.

Future goals in competition? I finally met my life-long goal to compete at the World Championships. Now, I'm not sure what's next. Age is is a factor being 41 and natural.

Overall, I'm one of these people that is not only a competitor, but I'm a true fan of the sport. I follow the history of it from the Weider brothers - to the present era. I attend the Arnold every year and try and attend the olympia if my schedule allows me to. (Photo below is of Adam & Dave Palumbo at the Species booth at the 2014 Olympia.

What is your training split? 3 days on - 1 off; 2 days on - 1 off. I believe in working opposing muscle groups together.Adam-with-group

What is your typical offseason diet? I try to eat clean and have cheat weekends, but work travel makes it eating more complicated. Pre-contest I am very strict. I eat high protein, moderate carbs for first 8 weeks and then cycle my carbs down every 2 weeks. I takes me 26 weeks to prep for a contest. I eat  a lot of the typical bodybuilding food (chicken, salmon, steak, oatmeal and vegetables).

Do you have a coach when you prep? I have a friend who I consult, Eric Posejpal, he coaches others. He gives me an objective set of eyes, that the mirrors don't.

How much cardio do you do when you are prepping for a show? 45 min to 1 hour, 5 days/ week. I add sprints and intervals the last 8 weeks.

Do you prep anyone else? Yes, but, not for money. I'm willing to help anyone who needs it. Guys like Eric Posejpal and Steve Holland have helped me. I'd prefer to pay it forward.
